Peter’s Lanka skink (Lankascincus fallax) is a tiny skink endemic to #SriLanka that displays throat color polymorphism. A study led by my former student Ishara Jayamanna found that bright throat colors occur only in larger males. Learn more here: doi.org/10.33256/35....

What are some lesser known facts about frogs and toads? 🐸 This is an American Toad and apparently they (and other frogs and toads) blink to push down food when they swallow. I think I have a video of it somewhere.

We are beginning to find cold stunned sea turtles! When water temperatures drop below 50° F for 24 hours, sea turtles will become lethargic, float at the surface of the water and blown in to shore. They are susceptible to boat strikes, predation, pneumonia and are in need of rescue.
