If you want to hear everything we played last night (apart from the Hüsker Dū version of ‘Ticket to Ride’ and Mod Lang’s ‘Slaughtered by the Sun’) I present the Shoegaze Special Spotify!

Upwards and onwards! The next Disco 2000 is in 4 weeks and half the tickets are sold already!

Had a fantastic night at Disco 2000’s Shoegaze night last night. The advantage of the Walthamstow Trades Hall upstairs bar being that the dancefloor looks full with eight people on. And met sooo many lovely people.

Disco 2000 are doing a Shoegaze Special at Walthamstow Trades Hall tonight, but it’s sold out. Sorry!

The one that we'll all claim to have been at in future years. Indie-pop's Pistols-at-the-Free-Trade-Hall moment?

This was an absolute fecking blinder of an evening! Very glad to hear about the film release as the room was rammed to the rafters, which isn’t ideal when you’re 5’1” :-)

Well there’s my earworm for the whole bloody day sorted! @hmhbLyrics.mastodonapp.uk.ap.brid.gy worldntdday.org

If you see this, post a fictional artist/band that you would love to see live.

Me, looking at any cat, fondly: what a lunkhead. What nitwit. Brain the size of a walnut. Nuts for brains. Absolute soup for thoughts. A vast desert wind blowing between those pointy ears. I gotta kiss that empty little head.

Cake for breakfast. Even worse, courgette cake for breakfast.

What is a film you love from 1965?

I’ve become more used to actor Andrew Scott over the years and can now watch him in things for up to five minutes before I think this.

Science: you can’t hear a picture Me:

It’s January, I’m skint, it’s cold and nothing is happening. Here is a picture of a parakeet and a fat bastard squirrel on my bird feeders as possibly the most exciting thing to happen all week, which gives you some idea how bad it is. :-)

Sometimes my sponsored ads are spot on. Sometimes…not so much.

Thank you @rnrbook-club.bsky.social Santa for making my Christmas wish come true!

We drew a close on a year of incredible 📚 events with last nights Lawrence extravaganza. We’re back Sunday 12 Jan with the no less extraordinary Swerve by Mark Hoyle. Happy Christmas Everyone x www.eventbrite.com/e/1107844706...

Thanks to the galloping lurgy I will not be making it down to see @stetiennedisco.bsky.social chat books at HMV tonight. Anyone want my ticket? Let me know and I’ll wang it over.

In the spirit of ‘Mr Jolly Lives Next Door’ I might have the text of this postcard tattooed on my forehead.

We’re back at #bbcradiolondon @ 1pm. Inspired by the TV series Black Doves, we’re asking for songs/bands/artists with a colour or bird in the title/name. And who’s worn the coolest hat in Pop. Ollie & I will share our faves. But who are yours? Listen👂94.9, Digital bbc.co.uk/radiolondon

I’m being recommended a ‘Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd.’ shirt and while I’m pleased that it exists I’m still not going to wear that. :-)

Really loving this. Might be by Christmas record for this year. youtu.be/1YKZ6_Z1-9E

A quick thanks here if any of you lovely Disco 2000 people are on Bluesky! Last Saturday’s disco earned us a whopping £1453 to donate to Eat or Heat this Christmas. If you can spare any extra festive fare the last drop off dates are fast approaching. Tomorrow for E17 and Monday for E4 (see pic).

Ploughing on regardless… Choose 20 albums that have stayed with you or influenced you. One album per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. 13/20

Thanks to @heykidsshop.bsky.social the tree is well and truly topped!

If you see this, post a picture you saved because it made you laugh

The Feast of Stephen came early to Rough Trade East last night. Hugely grateful to @petepaphides.bsky.social and Will Harris for their labour of love on @thelilactime.bsky.social ‘Astronauts’ and bringing it back to those of us who have always had a special place in our hearts for it.
