The network switch arrived today

Anyone else like bitter drinks or just me? Obviously not undrinkable, but I love me some bitterness on my tea, my beer, my spirits, gives it some character.

I can't wait for tomorrow for my Mini PC to arrive and begin my Proxmox Ansible journey. I'm gonna suffer but suffering is fun so let thy soul suffer.

Honestly, thinking of my next homelab iteration to be made using Ansible. Really want to learn the tool, but I have no excuse to use it, and this seems like a good one. Any recommendations from people who have done this? ( Or warnings on why I shouldn't lmao )

Oh wisdom of the blue skies, what would you recommend for a post-grad study focused on infrastructure, servers, networking, provisioning and the like? If you can throw out ideas, that's great, doesn't matter how crazy. I just want to see what I can do.

I will say, SSH is insane at doing the most crazy connection shit possible. "Oh, you need to use a private key to hop between two hosts and then forward the port in a third host to your own machine? Sure, here's a one liner" what the heck how is this even a real tool

Browser c̶a̶c̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ can suck my nuts blog.mozilla.org/en/products/...

Anyone know if I can setup something in a VM to start working on setting up a media server with Proxmox? The hardware arrives in a few days but I am impatient and I want to try having something ready for when it arrives. Ignore the fact that I would be running a VM in a VM for a while.

there is no option for a masters here related to infrastructure. either i go the suburban red hat dad route, or i learn to code in rust and join 3 subreddits, and i am tempted to try out rust. don't test me world

Fern ( Hostname for my Homelab ) is getting an upgrade. The Pi 4 is fine to start, but it's having trouble with decoding for media center and it's a bit finicky with storage. Getting now a Mini PC with an N150 that should handle this work with ease for much time to come

Browser caching can suck my nuts

They call me the human ETL on the block. Get passed random CSVs and turn them into SQL expressions to fix the state of the database for a fifth time.

Can I say that what I've learned on this platform is that trans programmers usually have the most based ideas? It could also be the autistic side of me wanting to stick to other Neuro divergent people like a magnet. But that's just a theory. A SOCIAL MEDIA THEORY.

I need to get off the refactoring train before my boss fires me. Like, yes, I did write 500 lines and reshaped the whole project's database, but y'all were fucked up when you were writing this schema, and working on it will give me an aneurysm if I don't fix it now.

Just let me refactor one more service, it's real quick, only a month and it will be prettier for developers but will not change anything for end users please just let me do it please please please please please please please please please please

I did not have my ass ready for ultrakill's 0-E and 1-E. My god. My. God.

Not sure if this is a hot take: do not use copilot, it will make you braindead in coding. I do use GPT for looking over difficult documentation up to a certain point where it's just spewing bs. And sometimes for code gen, it becomes easier for me to write the damn code than to have it make it.

Balatro Cryptid mod feels like overdosing on score high. Seriously, I just feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with whatever the fuck is going on when playing it. I think vanilla works fine as it is. Still cool to have the option though, and definitely fun to see. Just not my type

When people ask me what RAID is used for, I respond with: "So if I go ahead and shoot one of the drives, the other one will be able to restore data". I think I could just say "drive failure" instead of "shooting a drive" but it feels more intuitive on my head. A shot drive tells no data, after all.

Today's word of the day: SQL

One part of me wants to research the topic I could not get the hang on at work ( alembic + multi-schemas + standardized declarative database user setup ). The other just wants to not deal with it today, too pissed at it for me to learn.

Me: I'ma test out all the new modern languages Also me in the middle of 4 different FastAPI projects and development of a python library:

Flutter LSP feels so nice, wth, I expected something half baked and it has code actions, good error messages, docs, I'm hella impressed, specially when not using a standard editor like android studio or visual studio code.

Am I the only one that when doing some destructive action on the command line, I wave my hand near the screen as if the command ran because of some movie hacker magic bullshit action, even though I hit the enter key with the other hand I think that's just ADHD, but it feels cool so who cares.

Is there a filter to remove politics from my discover line? Cause I'd really like to browse more anime PFP programming shit takes and less "braindead president proves again he is braindead" posts.

I think my body was not designed for a "low-sleep" mode. And this is what most people my age wake up at, or even earlier. How I'll survive adult life after uni is still a mystery to me.

Frmpeg is the goat for any sort of media management. Amazing tool

Love to wake up feeling like shit because of my thyroid, but no endocrinologist is available for at least 6 months. Just gonna have to tank it. ( Doesn't help I tend to skip breakfast but oh well. )

Also I didn't comment on this during valentine's day but I went and printed a bunch of the @smokeebee.bsky.social cards she posted a few years ago and just left them randomly on desks at my university.

I swea, every time a colleague of mine tells me to use a SSR framework, it's always for every reason but the reason SSR exists. Just use vite. Go home. Your hobby level website doesn't need to handle client AND server side state on the frontend.

I scare friends away when I tell them I built my own computer, operating system ( not really but NixOS is like fucking witchcraft to web devs ) and perform my own repairs to my laptop. Good, I have no use for weak willed computer users /s

I am so happy, my Laptop's trackpad finally is working after changing it. I've had to use the pointer for like two years at this point forcefully. While there are still things where the pointer feels better, it was going to end up giving me some carpal tunnel bullshit. Next up, upgrading the screen

Y'all need Jesus. Even though I do not believe in Jesus.
