Never in my life have a read a novel in which I so totally identified with the main character. Published in 1972, this book has the grace of being writerly written, a book about artistic integrity. Check out my review. www.twiltondale.ca/wiltons-read... www.twiltondale.ca/wiltons-read...

We all strive for, and pride ourselves in, being objective. However our subjectivity can be full of wisdom and sensitivity. My blog for this month looks at this dualism from the perspective of being a reader and a psychotherapist. #psychotherapy #literature #books www.twiltondale.ca/blog

So, an imagined conversation … Musk: can you create a distraction for me so I can dismantle everything that stands in the way of our greed and lust for power? Trump: Sure, I’ll gather all the reporters we allow in to talk about tariffs, and Gaza, and military force to get Greenland and Panama.

We finally know the game. It’s called “Who wants to be the 51st State?” So far we know of four contestants: Canada, Panama, Greenland and Gaza. Of course, all want to be kicked off the show before it even begins.

But the orange turd already knows this. The tariff threats are not about this. Its threats to our sovereignty and his fantasy world domination. Dont get complacent, keep your foot on the gas #buycanadian #madeincanada #truenorthstrongandfree

Apparently Trump thinks Canadians will have better health care if he annexes our country as a 51st state. We spend half as much per capita on healthcare but have a much longer life span. Universal healthcare works much more efficiently. No need to deflect $ to admin and profits.

Just what might be improbable about a psychiatrist? Setting aside the hackneyed jokes about crazy shrinks, can we think of them as people with their own struggles? Check out my review of this recently published memoir www.twiltondale.ca/wiltons-read.... #booksky, #Writing and Books.

Derek was a patient with me at High Royds Day Hospital in the 1970s when doctors subjected this kind man with a great sense of humour to appalling experimental brain surgery without his consent. OMG, none of us was safe in their hands! RIP Derek. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

I treat survivors of trauma, some of which is beyond imagining. Let me be clear. Gestures of oppression and hate are intended to instill fear and perpetuate the horrors tied to them. A gesture of hate is active participation in harm to other human beings. It is violence.

So much hard work goes into the creative process… be that in the arts or in the endeavour of humanistic psychotherapy. I examine both in my most recent blog posting. www.twiltondale.ca/blog

Listen, if they really cared about girl’s sports, they would make sure that girls have the same access as boys to funding. Or facilities. Or coaches. Or uniforms. Or bus budgets. They don’t care about girl’s sports. They care about punching down on a minuscule number of trans athletes.

Disabled Albertans are no strangers to harm caused by shortsighted, incompetent UCP policy. However, the cruelty in this case is jarring. Total gov savings of $420k will harm hundreds of people with intellectual disabilities from Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I hope all of you in the USA know that when Trump puts 25% tariff on Canadian crude oil that consumers at the gas pumps will be paying much more for fuel!

As Trump talks of economically destroying Canada and using military force against Mexico both countries send help to fight the fires in California.

Here's my problem: if each & every day we make thousands of micro decisions & they are not the same each moment... &, as determinism posits, any single behavior we possess is deterministically caused, then a different deterministic force would have to exist for EVERY single deterministic effect.

On this Jan 6th, take it from a person who grew up with a narcissistic mother: RESISTANCE isn't always combat. Resistance is also choosing actions that give you your own self-respect. Finding healthy sources of information outside of them. & fighting FOR your own ideals, instead of fighting them.

I encourage folks to move away from New Year's resolutions and instead focus on intentions. Rather than treat yourself like a machine with production value, think about your dreams. What makes you feel good? Aim for those things. Don't guilt yourself all year. Let yourself grow.

My most recent fiction read took me back about a hundred years and travelled me across the continent on a train from Montreal to Vancouver. Interesting characters accompanied me (and one took good care of me). This novel, a Canadian Prize winner, is worth the read. www.twiltondale.ca/wiltons-read...

Traffic accident deaths will drop from 12.7 per 100,000 to 5.3. -You will spend half as much on health care yet get better outcomes. -Poverty in Canada is 1/3 the rate in the USA. -Although Canada has fewer millionaires, we more fairly distribute wealth (better income equality).

We would like to invite various states such as Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts in the east or Washington, Oregon, and California in the west to join Canada and become our 11th+ province. To our American cousins, sorry to have to say this, but the benefits of joining Canada include:

It would arguably seem, looking from the outside, that knowledge gained is the primary outcome of graduate training, with psychotherapy skills coming in a distant second, and self-awareness coming sometime after lunch. - Nicholas Ladany

Only a moron would think Canada would want to join a country that has a dictatorship in the making, while Canadians enjoy… National wide Healthcare Minimum Wage $15-$17 Paid maternity leave Subsidized Day Care Pro choice Democracy And, we are ranked 3rd best country to live in.

Perhaps you are growing tired of seasonal images, the cheery reds, the pristine snows, the sentinel fir trees. I am. Then BlueSky sent me this image, one my heart and mind could embrace. Thank you BlueSky and, especially, thank you, Ele.

Word of the day (of course) is ‘scurryfunging’, from US dialect: the frantic attempt to tidy the house just before guests arrive.
