🤔

Damn, zero points in the forecast challenge against actual forecasters? Forever the champion in brainless shit talk though.

There is a lot of information being shared that was not ready or meant for public consumption yet. Pretty much an unmitigated disaster.

If the SPC stuff on X has made it here: no, it wasn’t supposed to be shared publicly. No, it’s not in its final form or ready. Probably at least 1-2 years before it would even be. It’s already spreading like fire on X, please do not propagate the info here. Very frustrating.

We live in the absolute stupidest timeline.

A palete cleanser. My strawberry patch is readying it's first blossoms of the season and the dogs are enjoying spring after an A+ checkup at the vet.

A sumnary of the current *sitcheation*: "Here's less people, less data, reduced comms redundancy and the people you're trying to warn hate you because orange man and Elon said you suck. Don't screw up or we will delete your agency and replace you with bad ai." This is fine!

Vertical shear is so strong and favorably orientated that it is tearing the convective line apart into individual cells across nw MS. That will be a problem as supercells move into a sig tor environment n MS AL and s TN soon. More discrete cells likely along the confluence axis later farther east.

Classic

Must admit that after quickly perusing the 00Z CAMs, my nervousness level for severe wind/tornadoes in mid-Misssissippi Valley into mid-South along with wildfire/winds in southern Plains tomorrow, and then the significant severe/tornado risk over the Southeast Sat, is getting close to maxed out.

Get in loser, we're tanking the economy

Based on what I can tell from first party sources, The Oklahoman has mistaken the termination of the Radar Operations Center lease for the National Weather Center lease. As of this time, I can find no first party sources that suggest the NWC is on any list, and reporting is consistent w/ROC details.

As I read comments on social media posts about NOAA, I am calling on all of my broadcast media friends to do a story about everything that NOAA does for the public.

From NOAA SPC forecaster @twisterkid34.bsky.social: "As far as we can tell this is the farthest south and east Extremely Critical has ever gone and the first across the general area in almost 20 years. Dangerous potentially historic fire weather conditions possible across central TX on Tuesday"

The upgrade in TX tomorrow is also a great call from the NWS. Extreme weather will align with above normal fuel loads in a highly populated part of the state. Aircraft will not be able to respond tomorrow in TX or TN, so wind-driven, life-threatening large fires will be likely.

As far as we can tell this is the farthest south and east Extremely Critical ever done and the first across the general area in almost 20 years. Dangerous potentially historic fire weather conditions possible across central TX and Austin San Antonio Tues. Fuels are primed and winds will be intense.

The weather is not messing around this Spring. Extremely Critical fire-weather conditions across West Texas into Eastern New Mexico, and an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms (tornadoes, wind) across Oklahoma and North Texas. Winds picking up, and moisture moving north 😬

Extremely Critical Fire conditions starting to develop across West Texas and eastern New Mexico. Strong winds and very low humidity!

Forgot to post my first shelfie 🥲 Had a great weekend exploring before a long week ahead. Forgot how much I missed chasing and it’s like I’m back in my element!

If you haven't already signed up for this spring I can't reccomend armchair forecaster enough. Andrew put a ton of work into the game and imo it's one of the best severe forecasting contests around! armchairforecaster.com

Meteorological Spring is already kicking off with a week of active severe weather across the U.S.! Oklahoma and Texas today, into the Southeast on Tuesday.

Oh we are so back. #txwx #okwx #storms

The wall when I left today 🥹

There might be a lot to be upset about, and things may seem dark… but the kindness and generosity of people will never cease to humble and astound me. Thank you.

All probationary federal employees at NOAA’s EMC that’s responsible for keeping all US weather model systems running have been fired with 1 hours notice. And that includes me and colleagues. We will not go quietly because we care about the NOAA mission to protect the public.

We tried to fucking warn you. Good luck.
