Auchincloss: DOGE is about distracting Americans from what is happening in Congress, where congressional Republicans are axing Medicaid.

Again, any time a Republican says we have to slash Medicaid to fix the deficit, they need to be asked why we shouldn’t just increase taxes on the rich. It’s a zero sum game. Make them defend giving more money to billionaires over keeping ordinary people healthy.

Feels good to protest Sen. Ron Johnson at his office. www.wpr.org/politics/us-...

Translation: We want to cut Medicaid.

Had a productive and emotional therapy session about my sense of failure for still having never really made something of my own and then got off the call and proceeded to make a list of menu items I would serve at a Talking Heads themed fast casual salad concept

Spotted on @rosen.bsky.social’s hellsite account, mildly sparkling pepperoni pizza flavored soda. Not gonna lie, would definitely try

A couple of photos from my impromptu portrait session. I love the way medium format looks for these kinds of headshots. 📸 Mamiya C330 🎞️ Kodak Tri-X 400 #believeinfilm

Five major airlines are suing to overturn a rule from then-Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg that actually holds airlines accountable for damaging disabled people's wheelchairs. New from me at @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Thanks to @theverge.com for writing about the effectiveness of protests and #TeslaTakedown!

Gerald "Gerry" Lawson (1940-2022) was an African American engineer and video game pioneer. He's best known for leading the team that developed the Fairchild Channel F, the first video game console to use interchangeable ROM cartridges, revolutionizing the gaming industry. #BlackHistory #USHistory

Shot some orchid photos at the botanical garden. Onto a new roll!

I think I've found a way to articulate what bothers me about the trajectory of the modern tech industry (and to some extent... society). We are on this Earth to provide for each other. That's the "mission" of humanity as I see it. This is incompatible with what the tech industry seeks to do.

We’re in for weeks of this on end. One of Musk’s tween haxx0rz stumbles into a complicated system they don’t understand, thinks they’ve discovered something earthshattering the veteran dunces never noticed, relays to Musk who also doesn’t understand, and broadcasts it to millions of followers.

I bring up @mattielubchansky.com's Rules Wizard a lot when talking about Dems

This probably isn’t the developers’ top priority (although it should be), but I’d love to see the Bluesky app have an option to switch to the Julian calendar for those of us who reject the lies of Pope Gregory XIII

This is probably not a surprise to people in the disability community, and I apologize for my ignorance about it, but I have been genuinely surprised how much immediate government wrath is going towards people in the disability community

Retaliatory tariffs are all right and good but if Canada, Mexico and the EU want to get this over with sanctioning the hell out of Trump’s oligarchs seems like a force multiplier.

you're literally a fucking senator

in one of the pierce brosnan bond movies the villain is a newspaper guy who wants the world in chaos bc it means more news for him to sell. I remember watching it and being like "this is impossibly dumb" but you know what, I may have been wrong on that

Went through the Chazen art gallery the other day & took some photos. 🎞️Ilford Delta 3200, 📷Canon Rebel EOS 2000. #believeinfilm

One day walking home, I noticed a dry cleaners across the street. “Was that always there?” I thought. A little Googling revealed that it was on my street longer than I have. Here's a blog post on why we often miss what's right in front of us. #visionscience aaronhertzmann.com/2024/05/09/i...

Wandered through the art gallery today taking photos. Would recommend! chazen.wisc.edu Used Ilford Delta 3200 with a Canon Rebel EOS 2000 SLR.

So this is what I saw:

Saw space debris burn up over southern Wisconsin just a bit ago. Very sparkly!

So fascinated by the human impulse to be like 'wow, this food sanitation practice really improved the quality and safety of food, what an amazing development, we should definitely stop doing it.'

I love that from time to time they turn the botanical garden here into a nightclub. It’s such a warm, beautiful, environment on a winter night.

Never thought of it before, but since all wired phone service now is effectively VoIP, you have to have a UPS if you want to be able to, say, call 911 during a power outage.

“Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it. Don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.” Agent Cooper.
