The sun has set on Winter BYXE Week 2025! What a ride! It was SO cold, but the people brought out the warmth! Huge thanks to everyone who got involved, and special hugs to the donors who provided the sweet sweet swag that offered the extra spark of incentive! See you in the spring, everyone! ❤️

People expect their elected officials to be working when crisis hits. That’s why we are ready to get back to work and have called for an immediate recall of the legislature. Sadly the Sask Party has decided the opposite, pushing our session by two weeks. #skpoli #sask

Cycling is 10 times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities and 100 times more fun.

"Walkable cities don’t just promote physical activity or environmental sustainability—they cultivate agency and resilience in children."

Today’s inspiring workshop was filled with meaningful discussions about what professionals need to understand about the needs of an important, influential and frequently forgotten group—teens! How much more inclusive could our mobility systems and public spaces be if we paid them greater attention?

Education is not a business. The goal of publicly funded education is not finding the cheapest way to warehouse children while their parents work. Public education is the great equalizer, and is an investment in our collective future. It’s worth saving.

When it comes to winter cycling and riding on snow in particular, there is a common saying in the cycling world: There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad equipment. momentummag.com/winter-ridin...

City of Saskatoon…please remove this angle parking along 10 St E. near the cheese shop …countless accidents/near accidents, induces traffic clogs in the Broadway intersection and terrible for cyclist safety. (This weird looking parked vehicle was well into the westbound lane on Monday!)

In memory of Donald Shoup, we re-released our 2023 interview with the brilliant, witty and influential scholar. "The High Cost of Free Parking" is a hugely important book and his research has influenced countless planners and advocates around the world. RIP. thewaroncars.org/2025/02/08/r...

EPISODE PREMIERE ALERT: Please plan to tune in this Wednesday, February 5th, at 2 pm EST for a conversation with @tombabin.bsky.social, the man behind the Shifter YouTube Channel, about winter cycling and challenges facing communities as they push back on motonormativity. youtu.be/aXY0YcikMvs

Unfortunately the latest concept plan of the new Polytech Institute in Saskatoon shows a campus which seems to completely ignore the new Bus Rapid Transit system being built right beside them. Lost opportunity.

A terrible opinion that makes me angry after Sask teachers sacrificed our time, money, and energy last year specifically. We're not fighting to privatize and privilege. We're fighting for ALL Saskatchewan kids to have a great education because that's our professional responsibility as teachers.

If you were planning to come to the IceBreaker but couldn't make it in the end, worry not. The session got recorded and you can watch it on our website: shorturl.at/bxsuu Also, even if you did join us live, you can return to your favorite parts now. And give us feedback! shorturl.at/ggHQR ❄️🚴‍♀️❄️🚴❄️🚴‍♂️❄️

There are dozens of dangerous intersections in Saskatoon. At the Ride For Your Life 2024, at the intersection where Natasha Fox was run over on her bicycle in front of her children, we launched SafeConnect. To have Saskatoon fix 3 intersections every year. saskatooncycles.org/safeconnect/ #cycling

Our first Slow Roll of 2025 will be this Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025! We're calling it the “It’s Frosty out There” ride, and everyone is welcome! (Let it be noted, it should be far LESS frosty than today! 🥶) We meet at the River Landing Fire Vessel, and depart at 2PM. saskatooncycles.org/slow-roll/

Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years. Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people. Good trade.

Winter? That’s still biking season! With the right prep, the ride goes on. Thanks to @albertaecotrust, we’re diving into the wonders (and woes) of winter biking. Our refurbished fleet, now with studded tires from @bpcyclesports, is ready for action. Here’s YER staff testing them in Fish Creek Park!
