It's like when my dad died after almost a year in a memory care facility. The doctor on duty asked me why I looked so shocked. Like, obviously this was expected but *not that day.* Not at 3 am. Not so soon after his last birthday. I was sad. Was I not allowed to be sad because we knew it was coming?

I think it’s important to remember fascism does not only win because of how people vote in a single election. Or even two. That is not the first and only cause. And if your institutions were resistant to fascism it would not succeed in consolidating power within a few months.

Nicky Katt was one of those actors who always made me do the Leo in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood meme whenever I saw him.
