Question - How do you gauge if a slower game genre prototype is fun? A platformer or FPS is quick to understand if its fun because of the movement/mechanics but what about something more methodical like a RTS or city builder? Does it come down just to the feel of the second to second interactions?

Watched a trailer for the new doom and 30 seconds in, it was all story and cinematics. The complete opposite to the opening 5 mins of 2016, where slayer smashes the exposition screen, which imo was the purest doom.
