I wrote this week that Michigan has been winning without making shots. Well, now it just lost without making shots. MSU 6-of-12 from 3 in 2H, U-M 1-of-10. There's no obvious fix for the shooting woes, either. U-M is off to Nebraska on Monday now.

Just not enough second-half stops for Michigan in this one. Wolverines either need to lock down on D or hit shots but neither is happening.

Gut check time here for Michigan. MSU defense has taken Michigan out of its flow -- 7 drawn fouls but 5 made shots. 3-point shooting has been an issue for U-M recently and is again tonight -- just 1-of-6 in the second half.

Tre Holloman 3-of-4 from three and breaking the game open a bit. He was at 32% entering the game but busting the scouting report. Spartans are 8-of-20 from three, Michigan is 5-of-15.

6-0 MSU run forces a Dusty May timeout. Wolverines stagnating in the half court and just gave up a run-out layup after a Wolf force.

Neck and neck to start the second half but fouls starting to add up for MSU's bigs. 3 on Zapala and Kohler, 2 on Cooper.

Michigan had a bad start, a great middle, and an OK close to the half. Going to the locker room up four probably feels disappointing, based on the run in the middle of the half.

Michigan is doing everything well on defense other than cleaning up the glass.

Michigan is on a 15-0 run and has made 5 of its last 6 shots from the floor. Some great defensive possessions. A lot of early switching by Michigan and strategically playing off of certain MSU players.

Been a dicey start for Michigan but Danny Wolf is waking up. Hit a post-up turnaround, a stepback three and now a behind the back pass to Roddy Gayle Jr. for an and-one.

Rough start to this one for Michigan. Spartans lead 11-6 with two free throws coming for Jase Richardson. Already 3 offensive boards for MSU. Feels like there's plenty there, but U-M has to settle in and finish plays.

Game 26: Michigan State at Michigan Open Thread - umhoops.com/2025/02/21/g...

Just spoke with Dusty May on the record, Bluesky gets the info first. He's agreed to a new deal with Michigan. He has one additional year on the deal, gets a $1 million raise, got bumps for his staff, got an increase in program resources (NIL included). The buyout is now $7.5 million. More in a few.

Sam Walters is OUT for Michigan tonight vs. Michigan State. His third straight missed game. Rest of the availability report is clean for U-M and MSU.

Michigan finds a way to win, once again. Another monster showing by Area 50-1, Roddy Gayle Jr. with some key baskets late back at OSU, and then holding on at the finish. Wolverines move to 12-2 with a *sixth* Big Ten road win. Next up: Michigan State at Crisler on Friday.

Michigan had three good looks to stretch the lead to 8 but missed all three then a Devin Royal putback cuts it to 3 with a FT coming. Big swing possession.

This has been a really fun game in both directions. Feels like both teams' best players are proving to be a problem for the other. Another neck-and-neck Big Ten game for the Wolverines.

Lot of hoopin, but not a lot of defense. Both teams are scorching hot to start the second half.

Bit of a weird half. OSU starts hot from three then Michigan's zone changes things. Wolf/Donaldson foul trouble. Feels like the second-half key is getting back to Wolf/Goldin 2-man game as much as possible.

Michigan's 1-2-2 press into matchup-y zone has flummoxed OSU in the first half. Buckeyes have made 1 of their last 12 shots after starting 7 of 10 from the field.

Michigan's zone has definitely taken Ohio State out of its rhythm a bit. Rubin Jones building off of his solid play lately. Wolf foul trouble is a big issue for U-M though, even harder for U-M to clean up the D glass without him.

Something about elbows, free throws and faces at Ohio State. The Zack Novak/P.J. Hill play is back and Will Tschetter whistled for an F1.
