*Shuma* Gorath (typo)

Marvel Premier #5 - November 1972 Doctor Strange faces Sligguth and learns that the entity manipulating events is known as Shima Gorath, but with Barry Windsor Smith replaced by Irv Wesley this story looks really silly

Tomb of Dracula #4 - 09/72 Dracula gives Ilsa Stanghold what she believes to be the gift of eternal youth in exchange for what he believes to be a portal to the past. Ilsa finds that vampirism has stolen even more of her beauty tho, and Dracula is thrust thru the portal into a demon dimension

I hate when I press play on an episode of a really spooky atmospheric horror podcast and and some dogebro wigged out on qualudes immediately starts screaming at me about how awesome online sports gambling is

It's completely inconsequential to the story, and I know it was his main gig for about 10 years, but I don't love it when Strange is lumped in with the Avengers

Age yourself with a movie you saw in the theater

Admittedly I haven't watched it since it came out (something I'll be correcting soon) but I really enjoyed the Strange animated movie, and I feel like the MCU version owes a LOT to it

The screams of one's enemies can sometimes be the best medication

The moment you realize that most people in the small rural town where you live have the Innsmouth Look

Reacher is a very fun show, but the logistics and especially the Georgia geography of it drives me nuts

Well if Gerry's not going to have Cable on this version of the Unity Squad, this is at least a pretty good compromise Uncanny Avengers #2 - September 2023

I hope everyone is hanging in there during these stressful times. I'm still minimizing my social media scrolling time for self care reasons, but I'll still be popping up now and then to say hi

Heck yeah! 🤘

I LOVE this corner box! (I'm absolutely screaming in my head right now from stress. Reading Strange comics is helping)

Marvel Premier #4 - September 1974 In a very Lovecraft inspired story, Dr Strange is lured by a sleeper agent to the New England town of Starksboro, where every inhabitant is a cultist who wants Strange dead to prepare the way for the eldritch demon Sligguth

LetthembeacoupleLetthembeacoupleLetthembeacouple Letthembeacouple Midnight Sons #3 - November 2022

Tomb of Dracula #3 - July 1972 Frank meets Rachel Van Helsing and joins her crusade against Dracula. Meanwhile Cliff becomes Dracula's thrall, and Dracula confronts Ilsa Stanghold, a former model obsessed with using the occult to restore her youth and who purchased Castle Dracula

Even in the early 70s, even inking over Gene Colan, Tom Palmer's inks were incredibly distinctive Tomb of Dracula #3 - July 1972

Okay so my social media goal through the weekend is to ONLY open the app to post my comic book shenanigans and to check replies. I'm just saying NO to doom/desperate-for-good-news scrolling

Is it a cover? I'm flattered! youtu.be/6x1ofWqEjCo?...

Trad Moore's art style always takes an adjustment period for me to get used to, but wow is he a good storyteller Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #1 - November 2022

Just finished Doctor Strange: Shamballa (September 1996), a trippy, cerebral exploration of the nature of reality and the self. Of course I'd love to have an original hardcopy, but they're expensive hard to find, and only $4 on Kindle

It's wild to me that from 1996-99 Dr Strange was almost entirely absent from the Marvel Universe. I'd love to see a flashback mini explaining why he was having to lay low - blame it on Onslaught - and showing how he was helping behind the scenes

Marvel Premier #3 - July 1972 Initially believing himself stranded in a surreal dimension, Dr Strange learns he's been trapped in a dream by Nightmare. Strange defeats the lord of dreams, only to learn that Nightmare has become the fearful operative of a hidden foe

@sanctumblog.bsky.social is good people Just throwing that out there for no particular reason (sic semper Tyrannus)

That the UN was willing to recognize the sovereignty of a nation of vampires who, left to their own devices, would gleefully kill or imprison every human, but wouldn't accept the sovereignty of an island of mutants, was really something

I didn't love living in Florida. It's too hot, most people are aggressively the opposite of my politics, and there are hurricanes. One of the things in retrospect that I appreciate though is that online sports betting is illegal there, so I didn't constantly get ads for it there like I do here in PA

Dan Green (or as my friend @jasonvenable58.bsky.social says "Daaannn Greeeenn") was the penciler on my first issue of Dr Strange, and was the artist on the Shamballa OGN. To my knowledge he wasn't a prolific penciler in the 80s, and by the 90s was mostly inking, which is too bad because he's great

Tomb of Dracula #2 - May 1972 Unaware of his treachery, Frank rescues Clifton and recruits him to steal Dracula's coffin. Later, in London, Cliff betrays Frank again to Dracula, and Frank is forced to slay Jeanie

This flashback panel works in a subtle callback to Gillis's Strange Tales series Strange #7 - October 2022

X-MEN #16 costumes variant cover ft. CYCLOPS! Drawn/colored by me ❌

Drop something purple

I found out today that my cousin, who wants nothing to do with our grandpa, is on his contact list at his assisted living facility, and I, who has called him at least every other day to check on his health for the past five years, am not. I don't think he's in his right mind, but it still sucks

I love everything about this page, from the composition, to the pencils, inks, and colors, and almost especially Janice Chiang's lettering, whose style I associate very much with this era Doctor Strange #76 - April 1986

Tomb of Dracula #1 - April 1972 When Frank Drake, a descendent of Dracula, inherits his dreaded ancestor's castle, the duplicitous actions of Frank's "friend" Clifton leads to Dracula's resurrection and to Frank's girlfriend Jeanie becoming Dracula's first disciple in the modern age

I know it’s been a while since our last episode (I’m working on it!) but if you miss my dulcet tones. I was just a guest on the amazing Sara Century’s new podcast, Best Issue Ever! We talk about a bonkers Silver Age Lois Lane comic. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/b...
