True in part, the larger issue is the structure of Sand Hill Rd: far too many of those at top were never the wunderkinder they’d been told they were/believe themselves to be, yet, conveniently for them, they sit atop major cos. like AH and cannot be dethroned. It’s a broad, intractable problem.
