A type of dad joke, in the mildly interesting variety.

I recall reading a Ralph Steadman (the illustrations for Hunter s Thompson) book about various types of grapes, and how "starving" the grapes or other ways of achieving the taste of the best years, creating smudge fires, etc (which were originally to keep the bugs from the grapes) is neat!

This was pasted to the bus stop here, in Ashgrove Queensland. Take that in. A person here (not me) believes it important enough to take the time out to do this.

This Jungian dream. Woke up from a dream this morning, in which there was this orange grease leaking from an engine. It had an unusual scent.. But why... I made and ate a bunch of buffalo wings, and the whole downstairs smells like tangy chicken. There's orange grease everywhere. Back to bed.

My mom was a social worker. I worry about her pension, I think she's well, but at 70 we all have needs. My sister, etc - I haven't been back in 25 years, but I keep picturing myself, on a roof with binocs and rifle, ready to defend my family from those who would throw them out on the streets.

The IRS is astonishingly good value for money, closing or restriction of productivity isn't just a mistake, it's compounded by its limitations of scope. If anything it should be given more staff, and the cap on audit activities changed.

The business doesn't have to specify why. Right to refuse service for a venue like a bar or club is well established. But it does make for good reading. Cuts both ways. These dicks thoughts were likely to be "take a victory lap" and then they got their fun spoilt.

Read with pride. As For all the lawyer jokes, I cheerfully withdraw my former mirth - could lawyers actually SAVE the country? (I say in earnest.)

Complete batshit lunacy on the president's Truth Social account. Yes, he really posted this.

I found this cartoon from 2016, gee whiz.

So, for all the doubters, it's like a fascistic me too. "reasonable" and "Trump" go together like sand and ice-cream. Adding the US as a third-party landowner will do exactly what, other than creating a grift opportunity for these non-humans.

There's a stat about how 43% in young Australian men would fall for this rank shite, please be better than US, potatohead is already versed in the dark arts. We SHOULD be afraid

Tighten regulations on churches? Put warning labels on their buildings? In seriousness: a person joins. Within months, they have the whole family planning to murder this child. We can doll it up, but this is what happened. And the excuse is that they REALLY have faith.

Yep. The stink of xtian policy in the back rooms is wafting over the Queensland community...I wondered how long it would take after they dodged the when-it-comes-to abortion thing before this starts www.abc.net.au/news/2025-01...

A few analogies. "let's take a wait and see approach to this infectious disease" "We're going to burn down the observatory* so this never happens again. " *or library, weather bureau, etc.

This seems to be unavoidable, that these dead-end ideas have to be ran through again, and as before, it's going to hurt the poor, and already marginalised aboriginal children. And to be crystal clear: IT DOES NOT WORK. And the stated reasons (yc on the rise) is also a lie. That's

We have the most powerful office in the world about to be occupied by a sleazy geezer who breaks out an imaginary accordion whenever he is caught in a lie.

I think about a phrase someone said in relation to violence, the street confrontation type. You can't assume what someone is capable of. Also, violence (of this sort) doesn't have context.

Incredible. Look at the vast swathes in tx and az. That's so crazy that this trumps (intended) the neighbourly demographics. So deeply sad.

I understand the appeal, and I'm not talking about a club level racing boat. That said, this Sydney to Hobart class is full of elites, and honestly it sickens me. Here's an example:

Michigan. How many times do you have to learn?

He's right. T*ur*p actually said as much - now that he's paid him 100mil, "he'll have to stop bashing electric cars etc" the mentality "everything is for sale, only the price" regardless of legality. He got away with everything so far, why would he stop now?
