you would have to acknowledge that Republican administrations are profligate spenders, and Democrat presidents inevitably reduce the deficit. At least since Reagan. This is because of better policies, broadly aimed at improving the lives of the bottom half of the economic strata.

While the Guantanamo idea, as Trump administration tries to demonize immigrants, is obviously stupid. It overlooks the huge interests of Trump's donors, the American For-Profit-Prison companies that donated heavily to his campaign. I'm betting that they're going to put the kibosh to this idea.
