An intriguing colour composite image of RCW120 revealing a bubble of ionized gas, roughly ten light-years across, driving the collapse of nearby material into dense clumps that form new stars. Credit: ESO/APEX/DSS2/ SuperCosmos/ Deharveng(LAM)/ Zavagno(LAM)

''Two possibilities exist, either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying'' -- Arthur C. Clarke

Swirling clouds of gas and dust near the Tarantula Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud. At about 160 000 light-years away it is one of the nearest galaxies (Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, C. Murray, N. Bartmann - Music: Stellardrone - Ascent)

At the time of its discovery, Andromeda was mistaken for a nebula because we believed our galaxy was the whole universe. Eventually, we realized it was actually a separate galaxy, twice as large as the Milky Way!

A Cosmic Beauty: This magnificent image from the Hubble Space Telescope reveals the spiral galaxy NGC 5643, nestled within the constellation Lupus (the Wolf). (Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, A. Riess et al.; acknowledgment: Mahdi Zamani)

Interesting fact: On march 23rd 2178 Pluto will complete only its first full orbit around the sun since its discovery! (Credit: NASA/JHUAPL/SwRI)

Titan, a moon of Saturn Titan is the only known moon with a dense atmosphere, which is primarily nitrogen (like Earth’s). In fact, its atmosphere is denser than Earth’s by a factor of about 1.5, creating a hazy, orange-coloured sky. (Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SSI/Kevin M. Gill)

An incredible closeup of the vortex at Saturn's north pole captured by the Cassini space probe! (Credit: NASA / JPL-Caltech / Space Science Institute / Alexis Tranchandon / Solaris)

This stunning view of Orion’s cosmic clouds reveals what appears to be a flaming ribbon in the sky. The orange light is the subtle glow of cold interstellar dust, shining at wavelengths too long for human eyes to detect. (Credit: ESO/Digitized Sky Survey 2)

This stunning view of Messier 78, captured by ESA's Euclid telescope, reveals a vibrant star nursery cloaked in interstellar dust.. (Credit: ESA/Euclid/Euclid Consortium/NASA, image processing by J.-C. Cuillandre (CEA Paris-Saclay), G. Anselmi)

The sky you see at night is a window into the past... The stars you see shone thousands to billions of years ago, their light only now reaching your eyes.

Fascinating: DN 1768, a dark ribbon of cosmic dust winding through the constellation Ophiuchus, is home to forming stars. These protostars emit a faint submillimetre glow—inching closer to the moment when nuclear fusion will ignite, marking their birth as true stars (Credit: ESO)

IC 4406, also known as the Retina Nebula, is a dying star. If you could navigate around it in a starship, you would witness a massive torus of gas and dust expanding outward. (Credit: NASA and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA); C.R. O'Dell - Vanderbilt University)

Spectacular: Cyclones at Jupiter's North Pole seen in infrared (Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI/ASI/INAF/JIRAM)

Interesting fact: Auroras on Jupiter can cover areas bigger than Earth!
