I thank the organizers for inviting me to the discussion in commemorating World #SocialJusticeDay. We must reaffirm our commitment to ensure that every individual has access to decent work, and, social protection. I thank my Deputy CDC, Blanca Montejo, for delivering the remarks on my behalf.

While in Nairobi, I engaged in a productive discussion with UNEP Executive Director, H. E. Ms. Inger Anderson on Kenya’s pioneering role in environmental sustainability. We explored the global ambitious environmental efforts towards the first legally binding instrument to end plastics pollution.

Had an insightful discussion with Director-General Zainab Hawa Bangura UNON Kenya on Nairobi’s role as a vital hub for UN operations. We explored ways the General Assembly can further support UN agencies based here, reinforcing Nairobi’s central position in advancing global multilateral efforts.

Honoured to meet with H.E. Williams Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya. Discussed Kenya’s leadership role in strengthening multilateralism through its contributions to peace & security, and sustainable development. Looking forward to seeing further collaboration between Kenya & the UN.

Had a productive meeting with H.E.Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary & Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Kenya. We reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and advancing shared global priorities, including the reform of the UN Security Council.

Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the founding president of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Sam Nujoma. A true son of the African soil whose unwavering and indomitable spirit saw him lead the Namibian people to independence. My deepest sympathies to his family & to the people of Namibia.

This morning, I met with H.E. Mr. Sérgio França Danese, the Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations. We discussed the preparation of the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC #COP30), which will be under the Presidency of Brazil.

Pleased to meet with Ms. Elizabeth Spehar, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support. We discussed the importance of the Peacebuilding Architecture Review 2025 as well as ways to strengthen the cooperation between the Peacebuilding Commission and the General Assembly.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting H.E. Mr. Carlos J. Valdez Matos, Minister of Youth of the Dominican Republic. We discussed the important role of youth in shaping the global agenda and the need to amplify youth inclusion & meaningful participation at UN.

Very much appreciated the chance to speak with civil society organizations at my town hall today. I thank all those who posed questions and who presented remarks. My team has taken heed of these points, we will ensure that they are considered in the work of the Assembly.

In Cameroon and in most of Africa, #palavertrees are where people sit and talk freely. These gatherings serve to raise questions that concern the community, and very often, those participating are under no obligation to find a solution immediately.

A decade has passed since the General Assembly designated 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This milestone invites both reflection and resolve—not only to acknowledge progress but to dismantle the barriers that continue to limit women and girls in science.

I welcome the opportunity to address today’s plenary meeting on the 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development #CSocD63. This year’s Commission is a crucial milestone in our journey toward 2nd World Summit for Social Development, where we will work towards inclusive social development.

Departing India after an immensely fruitful visit. My heartfelt thanks to the Government and people of India for their gracious hospitality. It was an honour to experience the rich cultural diversity and profound history of this extraordinary nation, now emerging as a global powerhouse.

On this Int'l Day of Zero Tolerance for #FGM, let us recommit to the goal of eliminating this harmful and discriminatory practice by 2030. Let us work together to mobilize political will & resources, to challenge harmful norms, to stand with survivors, & to empower women and girls everywhere.

I had the privilege of meeting with the UN Country Team at UN House in New Delhi, led by Resident Coordinator Shombi Sharp. Their unwavering dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is truly commendable.

I was pleased to have a productive meeting with India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S.Jaishankar. Our discussions were focused on enhancing UN–India collaboration, reflecting India's crucial role in global affairs. We aim to strengthen our partnership to address pressing int'l challenges.

Delighted to arrive in the vibrant city of New Delhi, marking the beginning of my visit to the Republic of India. Eager to experience the cultural richness of this diverse country, steeped in profound history, and to engage in discussions with senior government officials and the UN country team.

I had the opportunity to visit the Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and proud testament to Japan’s deep cultural legacy, incorporating universal values of respect for nature & human creativity. We must pass on the irreplaceable gift of a healthy environment for everyone,everywhere

Today, I had the honour of laying a wreath at Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, in tribute to the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing. As we approach the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, we must never forget the human tragedy caused by the use of nuclear weapons.

It was an honour to meet with H.E. Shigeru Ishiba, Prime Minister of Japan. I thanked him for Japan’s strong support to the United Nations. I commend Japan’s efforts to advance multilateral diplomacy, particularly as Member States work to implement the Pact for the Future. #Japan #UNGA79
