The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

This is the first piece I've written since the 2024 election. It is published in a UK outlet (@newhumanist.bsky.social) and tries to make sense of many Christians' messianic attachments to Trump. newhumanist.org.uk/articles/6380

Are there any medieval bibliographies specifically geared towards teaching? Like to collect readings that work particularly well with students/are good for class discussions, on common themes (especially at undergraduate levels).

Happy February! The Kalends of February honoured Juno Sospita, the Roman state goddess. A sanctuary in Lanuvium was wealthy enough for Octavian to borrow from it. February was a month for purification. The Romans celebrated Lupercalia, a festival designed to purify the city and encourage fertility.
