Every time I say this, some people get mad. A lot of people want to be lied to. Once you really understand this, a lot of human behavior starts to make more sense.

"when rulers place themselves above the law, it is the duty of the people to place them beneath the ground" -some historical statesman, probably, idk i didn't look it up but someone probably said it

One could say the same about anyone who voted for genocide. So maybe you should just grow up and find a context for putting the election in your rearview mirror that allows you to be constructive moving forward.

“Typically as you move further from tragedy, it grows further from the mind, but I’m encouraged people still care and people continue to come out and show support...Ahmaud’s life still means something to people.” www.ajc.com/news/atlanta...

Being honest about how those extremists were able to take such power is not necessarily something we need to dwell on at length, but the answers we find through such analyses are vital components of the knowledge base we need to move through what’s here and what’s approaching.

If you have access to money and live in NYC, direct it to @evlovesnyc.bsky.social. Do you have time to volunteer? Can you help them find a space with a large kitchen so they can cook meals?

On this 26th day of #BlackHistoryMonth, I am sharing a zine about Clarice Durham that was conceived and written by Paige DeLoach, 2020-2021 Clarice Durham Fellow at Project NIA. issuu.com/projectnia/d... - Clarice was a Chicago legend & I created a fellowship in her honor a few years ago.

metaphor for the entire party rn

It’s not going to substantively change what I know I need to do, but I understand that this entire country must face the consequences of the genocide it enabled on livestream for 15+ months. I’m not speaking of ‘karma’ or some other vague concept. I mean cause and effect. www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8YTMNXu/

16,000 people died from the flu this year. It was the worst flu season in 15 years. Now Trump & company are helping ensure we're not ready to keep our seniors safe next year. www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/02/26/fda-cancels-vaccine-advisory-meeting-for-choosing-flu-shots.html

WGN is such a trash outlet. The words "sex worker" are used in the title & throughout the article & then they call the brave person doing advocacy around this important peice of legislation a "prostitute". wgntv.com/news/illinoi...

has a single prominent activist even called for jeffries to be removed? How do they expect to win concessions from the party if there's zero pressure on its leaders?

Someone generously shared this template of a handout they were inspired to create for their local community with me. Here's a canva link if you'd like to adapt it for your communities: www.canva.com/design/DAGgN...

Asked if the disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo would be a good candidate for NYC mayor, Hakeem Jeffries replies: “I think he'd be a candidate that a lot of people, as I've heard from the district that I represent, would be very interested in checking out.”

That's right, Philly. More of this.

Wow — the Democratic House leader expresses approval for a man who had to resign after allegedly sexually harassing a string of women & becoming a symbol of old guard establishment corruption:

There’s a fascinating story that this ESPN report studiously avoids. For context, Mark Cuban is no longer majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks. That dubious honor was purchased from Cuban in 2023 by notorious billionaire Miriam Adelson. Why does that matter, you ask? www.espn.com/nba/story/_/...

“If I were to stop my advocacy...as many risks as it may take on for me, I still wouldn’t be safe from the people who don’t understand trans experience and want trans people to be eradicated. We won’t be safe if we’re silent, or if we speak out. So I’m going to keep speaking out.”

Watching Stephen A. Smith and Hakeem Jefferies complain about a mythical “far left” that lost the election for them makes me wanna bang my head into a brick wall. Eventually everybody they consider the “far left” is gonna tell them to fuck off for good and then they’re gonna have no one to blame.

To be fair, the precedent is set in the Declaration of Independence

a lot of our problems as a society can be traced back to the stubborn refusal to learn what words mean

JUST IN | Palestinian captive Raafat Abu Fununa, 34, from Gaza, has died in Israeli custody, bringing the total number of Palestinian detainees who have died in Israeli prisons since October ’23 to 60, including at least 39 from Gaza, according to the Prisoners’ Authority and the Prisoners’ Club.

This is one of the symbols of the end of a democracy — insulate leaders from accountability. Do not be surprised if an emergency declaration (based on nothing) suspends the 2026 midterms. I say that as a historian. We have seen the playbook.

Israeli defenders are really going with the argument that they accidentally killed 18,000 children — largest number of children slaughtered in conflict since the Rwanda genocide — and therefore they’re not responsible

If there's a gap between your desire to take action and you actually taking action, I think that this offering by Elise Granata might be helpful to read and to reflect on: open.substack.com/pub/grouphug...

:There was a coup in America, and no one noticed. It was a slow-moving coup, decades in the making, forged by redefining laws and loyalty until the contours of betrayal blurred." --THEY KNEW (2022)

All of the right wing’s ostensible factions prioritize, in one fashion or another, patriarchal white supremacy and settler-colonial-capitalist property relations. These are foundational values of 🇺🇸, and right wing factions are willing to make temporary concessions to protect them.

Dr. Mimi Syed, who completed two medical missions in Gaza, shares footage from the pediatric department at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza, where another child has died from the cold. This brings the total to 6 in the last two days and 15 since the beginning of winter.

Washington Post wants to get in on the game of bashing Lina Khan, doesn't want WSJ to have all the fun

Bezos, worth over $200 billion, is doing reply bait posts. Nice reminder that wealth can’t buy dignity

New from @dropsitenews.com: Israel launches major air assault on Damascus, because why not, nobody will stop them www.dropsitenews.com/p/israel-lau...

Cool cool you just let us know if you need any more land, don’t want anybody feeling cramped

“Does Our Code Kill Kids, Satya?” Five Microsoft employees were ejected from a company meeting after confronting CEO Satya Nadella over the company’s contracts with Israel’s military. They wore t-shirts reading, “Does Our Code Kill Kids, Satya?” (Read the Drop Site investigation, link in reply)

I saw a video clip yesterday of a GOP congressman getting grilled by his boomer constituents, and they were asking if he sided with Ukraine or with Russia, and if he believed that ‘Ukraine started the war.’ It wasn’t just that they were misinformed; they were *adamant* in their misinformation. Fun.

Quite a scandal: Biden was prepared to spend a few hundred thousand dollars on Teslas for the State Department, and the Trump administration altered that to $400 million, then back-dated the records to make it look like Biden did it. State canceled the contract after @dropsitenews.com exposed it.

I made a youth-friendly reader focused on Trayvon's murder years ago: niastories.wordpress.com/2013/08/05/n...

The Democrats are the party of political recuperation. They are structurally incapable of ‘resisting’ Trump and the GOP. Should organizing lead us to cross paths with even ‘progressive’ Democratic politicians, we should treat them with healthy suspicion. www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8Y38ukW/

The responses in the comments are more interesting than this. A microcosm of people's beliefs about politics...

democrats took half a million in donations from spaceX and by some coincidence also aren't doing shit about elon musk
