I dont know why anyone would think that ancient man would steal multiple tons of rock and drag it roughly two hundred miles with neolithic and early bronze age tech.
I wonder if they also think the moon landing was cgi'd with the computer tech of the late 60s.

I had the new essential guide to droids as a kid, and that one just stuck.
Also, there's a comic featured in Star Wars Tales #1 about the R5 that blew its motivator in New Hope that makes it a full blown force sensitive, visions of the future, force persuasion, telekinesis, and all.

Its not quite exactly jedi robots, but in Legands, there was an offshoot of the Jedi order called the Iron Knights wat was composed of members of the crystalline race called Shards which used droid bodies to be able to move and do stuff other than be a part of a group mind on their home planet
