Question for archaeologists. What other material traces or materialities of trauma can we explore next to physical evidence of trauma on human bodies (mostly skeletal remains)?

Thrilled to finally share this publication based on my master's thesis. Our study uses #LEH to examine how urban living in postmedieval Netherlands impacted infant and maternal health.🦷🤰👶 Check it out #openaccess here 👇https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/oa.3393

Half way through and hooked! #threebodyproblem #cixinliu

Utterly disappointed by EU media ignoring the students’ movement and protests in Serbia, a candidate state. For example, Austrian media entirely ignores what is happening. Vučić is tolerated by the EU and the reason for this is lithium mining and cheap work force.

Excellent reflection on protests in Serbia written by Slavoj Žižek. The EU should end its hypocrisy and support Serbian students against autocracy! EU green politics should not coast Serbia its environment. www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/s...

Really looking forward to this conference on #newmateralidm in #archaeology. I will present on New Kingdom Egyptian fayence kohl tubes. #Egyptology

The highlight of this evening was having no other than Margaret Conkey reflecting on our recent volume and giving the closing words full of inspiritation! YouTube recording of the book launch coming soon on the @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social channel! #gender #archaeology

This text was written by one of the greatest thinkers in Serbia, amazing philosopher Adriana Zaharijević! Read it! Serbian students can teach you a lot about the forces of non violence (sensu Butler),the power of solidarity, protest, boycott and assembly. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I am going back to Germany! This time as a Senior Fellow of the College for Social Sciences and Humanities of the University Alliance of Ruhr. Together with my tandem-project partner Prof. Dr. C. von Rüden I will investigate the production of fear in New Kingdom Egyptian palaces using Latour´s ANT.

"In Serbien wird sich zeigen, ob die Werte, deren Hüterin die EU zu sein vorgibt, vor den Interessen der Wirtschaft stehen." Der Schriftsteller Marko Dinić schreibt in seinem Gastkommentar @derstandard.at über die Proteste gegen das autokratische Regime und das dröhnende Schweigen der EU

When I die my BA and MA in archaeology one of the first themes that attracted my attention were the Aegean-Egyptian interrelations in the Bronze Age. I am honored to have been invited to contribute to the centennial studies in memory of Helene J. Kantor www.archaeopress.com/Archaeopress...

In the current world political “anti-gender” climate it is important to remember that gender systems and asymmetric relations of power rely and relied on different forms of violence, some direct visible and physical, others more symbolic and structural. #Egyptology www.routledge.com/Violence-and...

I just ordered my copy :)

My copy has arrived! M.Moen and U.Pedersen gathered leading experts in #gender #archaeology for their @routledgehistory.bsky.social handbook! I wrote the last chapter on ontology of sex-gender in ancient Egypt. #egyptology @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social

Today I visited the sanctuary of Isis and Magna Mater in Mainz. A small but nice exhibition space. Not much info about Isis cult in the Roman empire. Particularly interesting was a rather vague description of a male couple terracotta as a “love couple”. No explanation that it’s two men hugging.

Some impressions from the workshop on aging, dying and vulnerability at Leibniz Centre for Archaeology in Mainz. Thanks @stefanschreiber.bsky.social and @martinrenger.bsky.social for being such great hosts! We heard an amazing keynote by Jo Appleby yesterday and had productive discussions today!

Leibniz Centre for Archaeology in Mainz is organizing a workshop on aging, dying and vulnerability. I will be talking about the motif of old people in ancient Egyptian battle representations on Friday. This motif was so far fully neglected and it deserves a closer attention! #egyptology
