Media manipulation, disinformation from officials, and information blackouts from powerful organizations are not new as they have occurred since the moment organized information sharing began. So, when people make bad choices despite untainted information being available they must own their choices.

Congress can change everything, today, if they had the spines to do it. Impeach Don Cheeto and Jackboots Vance. Remove all the cabinet members. Pass rational, functional laws and budgets. Since 2014, the Russians have been mocking the United States and the United Nations. They shamelessly, and blatantly violated their own treaties by annexing Crimea from Ukraine. The UN, paralyzed by its antiquated Security Council did nothing. The fearful U.S. did nothing. Russia has won unopposed.

“Slippery slope” is often dismissed as a fallacy or hyperbole, but historical precedent and psychology lend credence to the threat of incremental transgression. Small, dismissible instances of knowingly violation of laws and norms begin it. Then, the violations grow in scope and danger.

Absolutely abhorrent. Actual criminals are rarely treated this way in the United States. Make no mistake, this kind of cruelty is deliberate and motivated by racism. Whether done for economic, environmental, or both reasons, energy efficiency in our built environment is a good thing. Fiscal hawks should praise properties that upgrade insulation and windows because it reduces costs in the long term. It is the greed for immediate returns which stymies these plans.
