We are already at the ‘purging the generals and replace them with loyalists’ part of the Trump second term, just five weeks in. Totally normal. Not dangerous at all

*avengers assemble * the people- “avengers please save us.” avengers- “sorry thanos has the infinity stones. what do you expect us to do? we’re in the minority right now. let’s show this guy in the midterms” *flies away*

In tonight's military purge, Tump nominated Dan Caine for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, a retired Lt. General so underqualified he'd need a waiver. Even odder: Caine was installed last month at 3 VC firms doing crypto, AI, and defense tech, including Thrive, founded by Jared Kushner's brother. 1/

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

Beyond betrayal.

Firing all the JAGs is very very bad

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

WaPo about the TPUSA grifter who promotes vaccines cause autism conspiracies and features episodes discouraging toothpaste and cancer screenings while also preaching that LGBTQ+ people should be barred from having children and fantasizes about publicly executing immigrants: “wellness influencer”

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

Rep. Jason Crow: “The purge of senior officers at DOD is deeply troubling, but purging JAG officers worries me the most. “JAG officers interpret law for our commanders. They help determine what's lawful and constitutional. “Replacing these military lawyers with Trump loyalists is so dangerous.”

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

Could totally be a coincidence that the blatantly racist and misogynistic President and SecDef did this

"We don't work for DOGE. We have always worked for you." Yes!

This is WSJ edit board’s second piece in a week raising escalating alarm about RFK Jr’s groundless & lethal anti-vax predilections and now policies (firing CDC vax experts) — and it pull punches in portraying him as no more & no less than a treacherous corrupt killer www.wsj.com/opinion/rfk-...

I want some of the laid off workers to run for office in 2026 and win.

holy crap .... Another Town Hall(s) Goes Off the Rails – Oregon 2nd District Edition talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/anoth...

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

Overflow angry crowd for town hall with Glenn Grothman in Oshkosh this morning ... www.wpr.org/news/glenn-g...

This is how it’s done.

A year ago this month, Trump said he would encourage Russia to attack NATO allies and "do whatever the hell they want" unless allies paid up. We thought it was so important, we ran it on the front page of the @mississippifreepress.org at a time when the New York Times and others didn't.

So the President has abruptly fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Charles Q. Brown Jr., and is replacing him with a retired three star general, Dan Caine. This portends a future grave crisis as the President attempts to restructure the military into one personally loyal to him.

"The crowd again started shouting 'tax Elon,' 'tax the wealthy,” “tax the rich' and 'tax the billionaires.'" The county went 68% for Trump www.lagrandeobserver.com/news/local/r...

BREAKING — States attorneys general lead by @newyorkstateag.bsky.social were just granted a preliminary injunction in their case against DOGE. The team cannot access Treasury Department payment systems or data while the lawsuit proceeds. Major.

The problem for Democrats is their leaders have been feckless fucking cowards for so long that things like "defending the plain language of the Constitution" is seen as too far left for the focus group consultants and senile octogenarians who control the party.

Yes, it is entirely correct to point out that ICE officers do not have any legal authority to break into somebody’s home unless they get a judicial warrant; which they generally cannot do, because judges only issue warrants for probable cause of crimes, not immigration law violations.

ny times, the most well financed, praised news source on the planet, able to influence govts, institutions, etc: "here's some lie, dont fact check it, just trust us" me, who failed high school geometry, googling while waiting for a burger: "yeah, that's not true." www.dailykos.com/stories/2025...

"farmers are apoplectic. In Ohio, they’re stressed about USAID contracts and USDA cost-sharing investments. They held up their end. The government made promises. Now their family farms and livelihoods are on the line. Billions of dollars are at stake. It’s all being held hostage by Musk and Trump."

So we spent a ton of money to move 170+ Venezuelans from inside the United States to #GTMO, where we spent a ton of money to hold them for less than a month, before we spent a ton of money to bring one of them back stateside and repatriate the rest. Talk about wasteful government spending…

This is such a savvy move by Judge Ho. It’s not just that Clement has impeccable (conservative) credentials; he was the Solicitor General from 2004–08, and even Acting AG briefly, so he can participate with quite a bit of perspective as to the proper role of the Department of Justice.

have been wondering about this. as long as you're a temporary govt worker, there's some logic. you don't have to upend your professional life to help on some govt task for a month or two. But now he's a top admin appointee and also CEO of major federal contractor. how is that ok?

Did Musk’s or Bannon’s Hitlergrüẞ better reflect our traditions? Whose Sieg Heil did more to Make America Great Again? Ross Douthat and Josh Barro drop by to discuss.

“Bigger job losses than any month ever outside of … 2008-9 and 2020”: is this good? Are record-setting job losses good?

PORTLAND: Tesla will be exhibiting vehicles at the Oregon International Auto Show, starting today and running through the end of the weekend. People use this event to survey the market for new vehicles ahead of purchasing, so it's an ideal place to interrupt potential new Tesla sales. #TeslaTakedown

it's really saying something that this is how an apparent friend explains Elon's goals www.vanityfair.com/news/story/e...

WOW "Seven western Wisconsin Republican lawmakers did not appear at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in Chippewa Falls Friday as farmers from the area said they were concerned about the effect that President Donald Trump’s first month in office is having on their livelihoods." ⤵️

it's just dribs and drabs here and there. but a lot of stuff has hit the ag sector over the last few weeks mostly out of the media sight. ag labs with half their staffs fired, small but important markets selling commodities to USAID. various grants and contracts for woodland management.

This is a good moment to thank the federalism gods. States choose their election technology, not the federal government. In blue states the read out will be GTFO Elon. And given how toxic he’s getting probably in a lot of red states too.

Incredibly chilling and clear-eyed piece from @frank-bowman.bsky.social spelling out the implications of Trump’s latest executive orders—which, stripped of their muddled legalese, essentially anoint him as a monarch with absolute power. slate.com/news-and-pol...

You get a bit of a sense of where these guys are when you ask yourself whether there's any channel conflict between the new "precision" messaging and Elon's stunt last night with a chainsaw. 🤔
