PhD in sustainability, equity & health. Former policy adviser for ALP & Greens. As a feminist I came into conflict with male authority in both. But Labor never tried to ban me, while Greens did. As patriarchy resurges, Greens need to come clean on this.

Children in school shelter among 25 killed in wave of Israeli strikes on Gaza

Ha ha I tried this and it’s very funny but I’m now wondering - is it true that you can walk on custard? And, did I actually make this saying up or is it a real saying?

So my experience from living in a city which has traditionally been a bit cool and cloudy and rainy is that the apocalypse will come disguised as ‘what beautiful weather we’re having’ (Autumn, Melbourne, currently running about 5C above pre-industrial temps)

If I were Peter Dutton’s adviser, I would tell him not to go to Victoria. Liberal party support seems to have gone down since he came here and told us we were too scared to go to the supermarket 😂😂😂. Perhaps he should visit again and tell us some new thing we’re scared of!

Just wanted to say that taxing plastic wrapping is a brilliant idea. Let’s go!

Australia is having an election and climate change and biodiversity is not being discussed much. #auspol I find it so hard to believe that we are just, by inertia, accepting that the Great Barrier Reef will likely die within our children’s or grandchildren’s lifetimes. How can this be?

sure what the hell. Announce thirteen billion percent tariffs next. 73 quintillion percent. eleventy gabillion percent. 29 brazillian percent. 35 dodecagorillion percent. who cares.

Thank you so much @naomioreskes.bsky.social for this article - very timely when voting is just starting in an Australian federal election where climate change has rarely been mentioned. As one who is fond of South Australia, perhaps you can also highlight just how high temperatures are there now

All this time and energy devoted to growing something that looks like this

Here in southern Australia it seems to be running about 3C or more above average. Late autumn, mornings should be cool and crisp but they’re just not. We went walking in southern Tasmania last week & nights were coolish but not cold. #GlobalWeirding

Interesting finding re Australia - proportion believing gov’t had “clear plan” on climate change went up from 29% in 2021 to 37% in 2022 (when ALP elected) but has since declined to 28% this year. Realistic tho depressing.

EXTRAORDINARY EVENT IN AUSTRALIA 41C in the Southern coast at Red Rocks Point We are witnessing something unbelievable in the middle of autumn with temperatures 13C above the summer average. Records are being pulverized allover Oceania Climatic history rewritten Updates later

A record increase in the global average atmospheric CO2 in 2024, 3.75 parts per million (previous record was 2.96ppm). The global average is more representative than Mauna Loa, as it is the average of numerous stations located around the world. gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends/... 1/
