extremely useful advice in a challenging time for higher education and research communities

@econ4ua.bsky.social is organizing an open letter to the future German chancellor (Germany is holding elections Sunday), urging them to lead and stand up to Russia. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

A thread worth reading

This is so much more than just an art/biogr. book: "The world comes into being in our gaze all the time. It isn't, it becomes. It is impossible to live in this becoming, it is impossible to grasp, therefore we have developed a whole range of different ways of managing it. We call it knowledge." 💜

After the thought of "wanton wonton" crossed my mind today, my appetite for those little pockets of joy has slightly decreased 🥲

The "uncut, bloopers included" versions of these papers are in pre-production! Great initiative!!

There goes the joke that meteorologists exist so that economists can feel better about their forecasts 🥲 Cool stuff, though!

I will be working in Munich for four weeks in July! Let me know if you are in the area and want to meet up. Thanks to @valeriaburdea.bsky.social and @econmunich.bsky.social for the hospitality!

This is too funny not to share

Ugh, this is sad but also important research

A total stranger overheard a conversation I was having with a friend about a book on the street and turned towards us and recommended to read Robert Graves' "Goodbye to All That", and how glad I am she did that! It's a great book so I'd like to pay it forward: www.goodreads.com/book/show/55...

Interesting paper!

Started a month-long travel with the laptop giving me a blue screen error on the very first day. A couple of reminders: dad is an impressive hacker for a 70yo! Still, it's called the blue screen...of death...for good reason. Make sure you have good back ups friends, and happy holidays!!

Had a wonderful time presenting our new measure for Individual Preferences for Truth-Telling (w @lisaspantig.com & S. #econsky #econjmp #econ #jmp I am on the #econjobmarket this year! My JMP focuses specifically on second-generation migrant girls. How does education policy impact them as they grow up in a highly egalitarian society, yet within families that have migrated from more gender-traditional origins? 🧵👇

May all your mornings be at least as amusing as when I found out I've been paying the participants in my experiment in turnips 🫠

🚨NEW PAPER 🚨 What motivates people to help others? Are they utilitarian like Mill and Bentham, or do they care about equity and desert, like Aristotle and Locke? We use a Dutch TV show to answer this question! Paper available here: t.co/THSMqeHy7o Thread below 🧵👇 #econtwitter
