old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

Now's The Time, 1985

This week, we applauded the reintroduction of legislation to investigate the atrocities committed against Native children at so-called Indian Boarding Schools. We finally address the legacy of our gov's policies of cultural genocide.

ok, cis folks—if you said you'd stand with trans folks, it's time. S.9 is the senate's sports ban bill—a big step to making trump’s executive order a federal law, which is much harder to undo. it can be stopped *monday.* short call scripts for dem & GOP senators ⬇️🧵 legiscan.com/US/bill/SB9/...

One can hope.

Sick day.

"I like that tall hat! Some things never change." Was my favorite compliment given by my ex of seven years when we shared dinner with mutual friends last week. It probably sounds insignificant, but to me it was acknowledgement of so many years I was truly seen. We have known one another since 2000.

It feels good to see people I shared so much with, and to laugh with them so hard. To remember old lovers and think about how a tank top hit their collarbones on a hot summer day or how they bent their legs at the thigh and leaned in when conversations got philosophical.

For your consideration

Excited to listen to this on my bus commute in the morning.

White Lotus fans please don’t flock to Thailand and colonize it with over tourism. You will destroy everything beautiful and sacred just as you have with almost everywhere else in the world.

poetry prompt of the day: write a poem.

I'm anti-military yet I accept that the us military is real. I know lots of veterans who depend on the va as well as nurses who work for various va hospitals. In terms of the big picture, it seems insane to do this when military enrollment is quite low and you're aiming for ww3. Of course logic = 🤷🏼‍♀️

#BHM2025 Read the 🧵below by Professor Blair Kelley, then listen to our interview with her and read her excellent book, "Black Folk: The Roots of the Black Working Class." www.zinnedproject.org/news/blair-l...

The national parks, among many if not all other public services, don't actually maintain themselves. Creating thousands of unemployed workers who hold jobs that benefit the population doesn't actually help an economy . But it does free up one's time for organizing so um yeah.

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS. #LGBTplusHistoryMonth

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

We haven’t had a president in Korea for two months since December 3rd, essentially. He’s just been away and detained, and we’re doing quite well. The country has not fallen apart. And no one really likes the other person that is first in line to replace him either, so we're not in a hurry.

When you apply the “move-fast-and-break-things” approach to government, the things you break include human beings.
