Movie of the Day: The Grapes of Death (1978) * Originally titled Les raisins de la mort in its native French, this film was directed by Jean Rollin, who went on to direct others like Fascination (1979) and The Night of the Hunted (1980).

On February 24, 1938: The first nylon bristle toothbrush was made available, with DuPont's synthetic nylon eliminating the need for boar bristles to be used. It was the first time that nylon yarn had been used commercially.

On February 23, 1896: The Tootsie Roll was introduced to the world by Leo Hirshfield. An Austrian immigrant, Hirshfield produced the candy in a small store in New York City and ended up naming the candy after his five-year-old daughter Clara, whose nickname was "Tootsie."
