Canadian friends: this petition put forward by House of Commons MP Charlie Angus to revoke Musk's Canadian citizenship looks like a fun click... www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

My opinion on Krasnov: we want to believe because malfeasance is more comforting than random cruelty by a useful idiot. But I don't believe high-ranking ex-KGBs drop bombs on FB "hoping" not to be assassinated, yet know what happened to a FSB file today. This is the Left's version of Hunter's laptop

Took a glance at the site-formerly-known-as-Twitter. Conclusion: you can't spell toxic without "X".

Why are the first two outcomes of new code almost invariably "crashes" followed by "does nothing?"

Gotta love targeted advertising...

No disrespect to my American friends, there was a message behind boos of The Star Spangled Banner at Canadian sports venues. I think you get it, right? The boos of O Canada at American venues, on the other hand, has no message other than, "oh yeah? Well I'm rubber and you are glue." We're not shook.

I've often said you can tell how soemething about a person by sharing a plate of nachos with them. Are they considerate in keeping the toppings-to-chip ratio balanced as they take their share, or do they disproportionately horde the toppings, leaving you with a half a plate of bare chips?

If Trump thinks, through purchasing our goods, he's subsidising Canada, then he's also subsidising McDonald's. Maybe he should worry about absorbing that first.

Saw this on a street pole today...

Once again duped into replacing the battery in an elderly relative's watch to find out it's a wind-up.

Unexpectedly, this arrived today. It's like going to see your accountant and they pull out an abacus. Who goes, "yes, this is a great use of my money"? Do I live in a neighbourhood where the average age is 70?

I don't think Trump et al understand that the craziness just wants to make us soveirgn nations back away slowly while maintaining eye contact. It is not the negotiation tactic he thinks it is. It's more, "yeah, they're crazy, let's find a sane trading partner."

Rewatching Better Call Saul. Even the first episode is solid. Shame it never got an Emmy.

I feel like the AP holding its ground on the Gulf of Mexico (with an asterisk acknowledging the US's dissent on the naming) is their "there are four lights!" moment.

Finally watching Oppenheimer. It's not so much a movie as watching 3 hours' worth of the equivalent of Canada Heritage Moments on CBC. A+ on vibes. Recommended for people who value music over lyrics.

I often think how quaintly naive futurists in the 50s-60s were in thinking that technology would make our jobs more efficient and somehow we'd be the beneficiaries of that, gaining so much more leisure time.

From a dev perspective, apostrophes in game titles never go well.

I want an email client on my phone and desktop that can be told to stop checking specific accounts outside work hours. I want to still see my personal email off-hours without my work email also popping in and saying "hey! Over here!"

Uninstalled the McD's app few years ago after it prepared my order (& charge me) at 2 locations 3000km apart simultaneously. They have a new game that requires the app, so I tried. It rejected 4 of 5 emails I tried, then flashed errors that quickly disappeared scanning a piece. So... it still sucks.

Is there a consistent argument why, in Canada, Google Maps says "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)" (the former being our name for it, the latter the name one of its border countries gives it), yet only "Germany" (our name for it) and not "Germany (Deutschland)" (i.e. include their own name for it)?

The chorus of Rush's The Body Electric, about an android gaining independent self-awareness, repeats "1001001," which is ASCII for "I." I always found that cool.

When will voters learn that failing to vote for your best option for ally because you think they're not going far enough only makes it more likely that a person who will do even less (or even the opposite of what you want) gets in? Canadians: please keep this in mind this year.

Bye bye, GoDaddy. Hello, CanSpace.

Dreamed last night something that could best be described as "David Cronenberg presents Sesame Street." I remember thinking in my dream, "wow, this is disgusting. I hope it doesn't give me nightmares." 🤨

This is truly alarming! DEI conversation stirs strong reactions, but if a medical study calls for diversity in clinical trials, it's to determine how all races, genders, etc. RESPOND to treatment. Failing to diversify test subjects can result in ineffective treatments for whole demographics.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Trump "offers" to take over Canadian natural resources and land, then assigns Musk to offer a buyout to relocate its people...

As much anxiety as Trump caused Canada and other allies, at least we still have our sovereignty. I can't imagine what it'd be like to live in a country where a techbro brings his minions in to attach and mine data on sensitive government computers he was never given clearance to access. Unreal.

I often have Notepad open to quickly jot down a passing thought to deal with later (work task, etc.) so that I don't forget and don't get distracted from what I'm doing. Then I later glance back to discover I have 11 Notepads open.
