Moi aussi, je vous comprends, Madame Liberté.

I love my echo chamber where everyone values the humanity of other people and enjoys the arts.

The US minimum wage sends the message to employers that trapping vulnerable people in poverty is perfectly okay.

There isn’t anything you can say to make it better. If there was, then cancer wouldn’t be a big deal. Loved ones, friends, doctors and nurses: be with us, if you can. Sit alongside us in our pain. I know it’s hard. That’s why it means so much. #cansky #graphicmedicine

Never seen anything like the power outage hitting Spain/Portugal right now. Regions of Spain, Portugal, France hit. Mayor of Madrid tells residents to stay home if they can. Traffic lights out. ATMs, too. Airports dark. "The interruption was due to a problem in the European electricity grid"

Great thread!

Here is the link to the Last Week Tonight with John Oliver about RFK, Jr, public health, and HHS (including NIH) www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H34...

At issue is a case testing the reach of federal laws that promise special help for children with disabilities in public schools. Specifically: What do parents have to prove in order to get that specialized help?

Here is a link to 60 Minutes NIH segment... www.cbsnews.com/news/scienti...

And now, a note on Bill Owens who, until this past week, was the executive producer of 60 Minutes. We’ll be back next week with another edition of 60 Minutes.

It is a truth universally acknowledged

“This doesn't feel like a strategic plan to reorganize and make the NIH better and more efficient. It feels like a wrecking ball,” says an NIH insider, who asked 60 Minutes to protect his identity due to his concern about reprisal. https://cbsn.ws/3EKcER9

Congress is back from recess after the weekend. Will anyone file articles of impeachment for expelling a U.S. citizen who is 4 years old and also has cancer.

Lots of people I know that were furious about kids having to wear masks are real quiet about a two year old citizen being wrongfully deported

To everyone shouting “no one is above the law” referring to that Milwaukee judge: We have a criminal in the White House. A guy who’s proven to be utterly lawless. And you’re perfectly fine with that. So take your “no one is above the law” bullshit and shove it up your ass.

Tómala, igual que en la peli

There is no strict Constitutional prohibition against sending four-year-old cancer victims with American citizenship to die in Honduras. So it's hard to see what liberals are so upset about. by Jonathan Turley

Biden, 52%: “low end approval” Trump, 39%: proceeding “as expected”

Trump is literally selling access to the President of the US to anyone in the world, for untraceable cash, with minimum prices in the $millions, likely to raise Trump $100s of millions.

A poll trend that I'd be extremely interested in seeing data on is Trump's approval rating among Latinos since Jan '25. Exit polls in 2024 suggested Trump did better with this group than in 2016 or 2020, but the administration's recent actions will surely lose it popularity in many communities.

When this is over, and it will end, it is imperative that there is serious accountability for collaboration, otherwise this will keep happening to US.

Hearing how current Admin is concerned about early birth (low birthweight) kids. As our population increases, humans are putting so much pollution into the air. 2nd leading cause of death!! If current admin is so worried, they shouldn't be rolling back environmental regulations. Serious disconnect.

Half of Big Ten university senates have now voted in favor of forming a mutual defense alliance to combat federal overreach. #AcademicSky www.forbes.com/sites/michae...

If you don't see your college, university or professional org on here please write to them and encourage them to sign. If you know other alum put a letter together with as many signatures as possible. If you are faculty or staff bring a resolution through your senate. #academicsky

NIH announces six new acting institute directors, many of them filling posts of ousted predecessors

BREAKING: @aclu.org says Trump deported a child (U.S. citizen) with metastatic cancer without medication or consultation with physicians. This is the second child with cancer he's deported. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol... @rollingstone.com

This is exceptionally well reported: in case after case Trump has surrendered long time US interests to favor Russia and gained nothing in return. When you put it all together it a staggering surrender. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/26/u...

Nice: 49% strongly oppose withholding funds from universities, 23% strongly support www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

They are taking away our vaccines. Jay Bhattacharya is talking about eliminating mRNA vaccines. Meanwhile, RFK Jr. has managed to ratfuck the Novavax approval process.

My NSF was officially terminated “Beyond the Myth: Political Geography, Electoral Institutions, and the Evolution of Women’s Voting Patterns in Rich Democracies” I’ve been collecting historical data on the gender turnout and preference gaps after suffrage using old ass books…

Credit where it’s due, Jeff Taubenberger is a great choice for the head of NIAID. He’s been at NIAID for years & is a terrific scientist who has done pivotal work on influenza virus, most notably reconstructing 1918. www.science.org/content/arti...

Bad news for the Novavax COVID vaccine: FDA wants Novavax "...to show its vaccine is effective w/ another randomized study after appointees under (HHS Sec. RFK Jr.) intervened in the approval process... The additional step goes beyond what other Covid-19 vaccine makers had to do to win approval..."🛟

“you can think of measles cases as a probe for whether we are paying attention…While measles is often first, it is a harbinger of problems to come.” Highly recommend ‘Booster Shots’ by @adamratnermd.bsky.social. Crucial for understanding the history of measles and what the future likely holds.

Reminder that words matter. You can’t “deport” a US citizen. You might be kidnapping, disappearing, exiling, expelling, illegally removing, etc., but you’re not “deporting” a US citizen.

Further grant terminations from NSF. I don't yet have a list of what has been cut. It's been hard to concentrate today when every email ping could a notice from NSF that another of our grants is being terminated.

Hi, I’m God. How many pandemics must I send before humans once again learn to revere scientists? How many millions must die? Not trying to be dramatic, just earnestly inquiring for My Notes. Thanks, God

They are now illegally expelling citizens. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

ROBERTS: Critics will say this is the government expanding the powers of Article 1 of the Constitution, now they're arresting judges. How do you respond? BONDI: Nobody is above the law

The average life expectancy in the U.S. has increased by 10 years since 1960 due to vaccines, and better disease prevention, diagnosis, and management. This increased lifespan would quite obviously carry with it a higher rate of chronic disease diagnosis. But RFK Jr. thinks it’s seed oils.

A two year old baby forced onto a plane by her government—our government. That’s what Ilan Wurman and Kurt Lash and their academic collaborators and defenders have been paving the way for with their bullshit articles. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

NEW: Statement from attorney for Judge Dugan. "Hannah C. Dugan has committed herself to the rule of law and the principles of due process for her entire career as a lawyer and a judge. Judge Dugan will defend herself vigorously, and looks forward to being exonerated."

HAPPENING NOW: Hundreds of protesters have now gathered outside a federal courthouse in downtown Milwaukee to support Judge Hannah Dugan

We have now arrived at the "arresting judges" level of fascism.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, good news, the judge has been released!

Wrote about the DOGE bros going in and cancelling a bunch of NSF grants (and the Trump-appointed NSF director resigning), while noting that in their efforts to cancel imaginary "censorship" projects, they canceled a grant that was building tools to fight censorship. www.techdirt.com/2025/04/25/i...
