In Ukraine, Putin's forces have committed mass murder, mass torture, mass rape, and mass kidnapping. Have Trump & Co. ever criticized Putin and the Kremlin? Or do they save all their scorn for Zelensky and the Ukrainians? Our leadership is guilty of moral idiocy.

A frustration, and a curiosity: Many Americans have no problem acknowledging the atrocities committed by Hamas -- and yet are oblivious to, or in denial about, the atrocities committed by Putin's Russia. Should be the subject of a thoughtful and unflinching article.

Trump Fires the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs The nominee to replace Gen. CQ Brown, the first black officer, to serve as the Pentagon’s senior military post, is a retired Air Force general... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COLIN POWELL. This is the frigging WSj

"This is a vast project of enforced re-education by a colonial power that wants to wipe away history as though clearing a computer disk, and reprogram a population through barrages of propaganda at the barrel of a gun" From @peterpomerantsev.bsky.social, on occupied Ukraine econ.st/41CVD4d

so then it's not a cost-cutting team, is it

I'm about to drop a piece at The Atlantic on this Pentagon purge. As I warned, Trump is capturing Justice, Intelligence, the military. This is praetorianism, pure and simple.

Obviously “Russia Russia Russia” was not a hoax.

Take Russia's frozen assets now (written in December 2023, now even more urgent) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

And yet the leaders and intellectuals of the modern conservative movement have become extremism’s useful idiots.” nickcohen.substack.com/p/why-conser...

The rotund Commander-In-Chief

Elon Musk destroyed TWITTER, now he and his boss(?) are trying to destroy America and replace it with a corrupt, authoritarian oligarchy, just like Russia!

No, but if you’re looking for one, I am aware of a guy you work with that was indicted four times and convicted of thirty-four felonies.

PSA: If you’re going to go around referring to yourself as the “king” of America you sure as fuck don’t get to call a democratically elected foreign leader a “dictator.”

Even a five year old is smarter than all of them combined!

Oh nothing to see here — just the United States of America aligning itself with Russia and against Europe. This is fine. Totally fine.

Perhaps he is(?)…

Putin is not popular

European Parliament member 👇🏽

Can we also keep in mind that while Zelenskyy like Churchill 1940-45 postponed elections, Trump in peacetime tried to overturn by violence an election he lost - and has since pardoned all the co-conspirators in his attempted coup?

I have all respect for the office of the presidency, none for the current occupant of it.

“The people who represent the nation that has committed these war crimes are sitting across the table from Rubio with the hope of relief from devastating sanctions and an end to a conflict they started, all the while continuing to inflict suffering on Ukraine.” www.thebulwark.com/p/we-are-neg...

Telling the Ukrainians they shouldn’t have started the war is some real high-level assholery.

Neville Chamberlain, to do him justice, never amplified under his own byline Hitler's propaganda against the Czechs

The impending Trump sell-out of Ukraine has no basis in any genuine US interest. Pro-Trump foreign-policy "realism" (so called) is a corrupt exercise in confecting excuses for a disgrace and disaster based entirely on the shadowy and sinister Trump-Putin connection.

He has the knowledge and the instincts for his job; but he’s an inveterate coward living in fear of Trump and his base.

All the things that conservatives taught me long ago about deterrence and appeasement and freedom and tyranny, especially of the expansionist kind -- I can't unlearn them. It's too late. Plus, I think they are true.

President Reagan's strategy on the Cold War: "We win, they lose.” President Trump's strategy today: The dictators win, we lose.

It was painful enough to watch Donald’s earlier press conference…

My take on Rubio when he was first nominated: 1. He’s qualified 2. He’s so subservient to Trump that he has in the past taken positions he knows to be wrong (if so ordered) and would do so as Sec. of State. That estimation is being borne out.

The chortling sounds you hear throughout the DC metro area are from people who’ve worked in the executive branch in previous administrations, both Democratic and Republican, after hearing Chuck Grassley (!) say the Senate is powerless when it comes to personnel matters.

Tomorrow in the NYT: Nothing emphasizes the elderly and out-of-touch character of Democratic Party leadership than their reluctance to allow a new generation of white nationalist 19-year-olds to have access to everyone's tax records

these guys are the biggest babies in the world

Sadly, they’ll continue to act like whimpering cowards in fear of an orange clown and a rube hardcore base.

But now, I don’t think his boss can read higher than the elementary school level…

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

Nothing to see here

This is probably the most accurate take.

Vance was awful at Munich, and made clear the terrible truth that the Trump administration is on the side of the autocrats not the democracies. But some courageous and principled lawyers at SDNY and DOJ show there's still cause for hope here in the USA. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB9m...

A Secretary of Defense who knew what he was doing would have read that speech before he gave it and then made sure to coordinate with the White House and NSC before reversing some 80 years of U.S. policy and leaving Europe in the lurch while the biggest war since the 1945 was underway.

Justice Dept lawyers are showing other public servants, members of Congress and the public - not to mention quivering media moguls - what it means to be a citizen of a democracy. You do not bend the knee nor kiss the ring of tyrants.

Trump eggs reach a record high, $5/dozen. apnews.com/article/egg-...

And the Trump tariffs will add to it.

Kash Patel "lied to senators while under oath in a confirmation hearing, as if they were a troublemaking toddler telling their parents they didn’t drop the cake, hoping no one noticed their face was covered in chocolate icing. But that seems to be what Patel did." www.thebulwark.com/p/fool-me-tw...

When so many others kissed the ring, Danielle Sassoon and her colleagues stood athwart Trumpism and shouted: Not on my damn watch. open.substack.com/pub/charlies...
