I am totally out of order with my Easter dinner postings. Dessert first. Sicilian Style Orange Cake. The goal being using up the gorgeous Blood Oranges that have been in the fruit cellar since winter & are at the edge of their best usefulness.

Placek has been baked. Every year I try a new recipe, on the hunt for that elusive Polish coffee cake from childhood Easter. Placek is not a light airy confection. It is close to scone, baked in a loaf. Not easy to do. Sweet, buttery. One slice & a cuppa will keep you going 1/2 the day.

The ever so quiet laugh. Perfected in childhood.😂

The Easter food prep plan changed quite a bit. My partner’s biopsy for lung cancer came back positive, so the week was spent with Drs., insurance, bloodwork, x rays. Surgery 1st week of May. Playing catch up, making Farmer Cheese for Pierogi. 1 gal. milk to 185f, add lemon juice. Presto!

Fuckin’A. Go to Covid.gov.

The Wealthy In This Country Would Poison Us For The Sake Of Profit!!!

Easter food shopping done. Broadway Market, a tradition begun in 1888 by Eastern European immigrants as an open air market. Still on the same corner. Famous Horseradish-1st stop. Fresh horseradish, sauerkraut. Can’t forget the butter lamb! Then Redlinski’s for their fresh holiday Polish sausage.
