I’m committed to posting on BlueSky because I do think it’s important for progressive intellectuals to hear from someone who is outside the left-most 90% of the population. Something I see over and over again is a desire to unlock some semiotic key that will “disqualify” Republicans.

The idea that Musk went into politics to get richer makes no sense. He has more than enough money for personal consumption and as capital for enterprise. He’s done it to gain more power and to change the wold to his vision through politics. The reason why anyone does it tbh.

It seems like the UAP issue is breaking down along familiar low-trust/high-trust lines: conservatives distrust the government and fear-monger, while liberals are largely trusting of official sources. As with many other populist issues, that seems like a mistake.
