Microsoft inventing a new state of matter makes sense because they also invent a new Outlook every year that’s somehow worse than the previous one

The goal of buying cloud storage is to use its 33% for PDFs, 33% for audio and video files, 33% for all compressed files and the rest of the 1% for actually work.

When research is not enough—content design comes to the rescue. While designing the journey, the customer success was all over the place because they totally missed the customers’ natural language—the language trees, or content maps, or the product voice. www.vinishgarg.com/when-researc...

I wonder why many new products give me a sign up option only via my Google account. Their product has nothing to do with Google products, and since they are new, we have massive trust issue here. I never sign up and I am sure others too decide not to sign up. Totally a missed opportunity for them.

In a small trial, nearly half of pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine had no signs of relapse after three years. Dr. Vinod Balachandran from @mskcancercenter.bsky.social joins us to discuss the results and what they could mean for cancer treatment.

In future generations, when your children and grandchildren look back on this moment, they are not going to ask about the price of eggs. They are going to ask you what you did. Not what you felt. Not what you paid. But what you did. And I want to be able to say I did everything I possibly could.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

AI—we're building an exocortex—a synthetic, symbiotic extension of our minds. Instead of raising cows to feed us, we are training sand to think with us and for us. accelerateordie.com/p/symbiotic-...

While working with a founder CPO (Chief Product Office with Engineering background and solid UX skills), I realize that two PMs working together can have very different styles of working but they pull it off together because they have similar taste of music and they both love good Chinese food.

I'm excited to talk about @civicsoftech.bsky.social at tomorrow's Kawartha Pedagogy Without Borders: New Frontiers of Teaching and Technology conference. Thanks to @greeneterry.bsky.social for the invite! Preview: we'll open the session by reflecting on an evergreen @hypervisible.bsky.social quote:

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days I’ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

That’s the problem. We’ve been standing by for too long.

Oh the stage where fatigue is the opposite of fatigue.

“For example, the company says ChatGPT should assert that ‘Black lives matter,’ but also that ‘all lives matter.’” The same OpenAI working closely with Khan Academy, MagicSchool, and Common Sense Education? In short, resist and refuse the incursion of this garbage into schools.

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

Design does not depend on the culture. Design survives and thrives in spite of the culture. Design is about the culture of designing even in the absence of culture for upholding our standards even if we are lonely because we are unforgiving in how limited-dimensional design hurts an entire chain.

Solidarity. One word for everyone who is impacted this week in the US, in public sector, civic tech, civic design, and digital services. To my direct and extended contacts—to their families, loved ones, to their network—I can see the outrage and the collective confusion—we are with you every min.

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.

AI is merely the bullet. AI application is the gun. In either case, the hand that holds the gun rewrites the present. And often history too.

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

I know there is a lot of context but if given a chance to answer this question in binary, what you are likely to say? "Is design hard?" Say Yes or No. No context required. PS: Here is one of my posts to the backstory if you want to see. www.vinishgarg.com/design-is-no...

If Starbucks change their coffee makers (the machines), will it necessarily impact their coffee taste or the brand? If not, then how moving from Jira or Basecamp to Linear will fix your product problems? Foundations first. Tools merely support the foundations.

I saw a team who are so happy to be moving from Jira to Linear—but nothing much changed in their product intelligence. A reminder that tools are a chef's knife or best the high-quality ingredients—these cannot build the dish designing intelligence.

We are calling for a nationwide and international boycott of all Elon Musk-related products and services. Sell your Tesla shares, avoid buying Tesla vehicles, cancel Starlink, and delete your X accounts.

Interviewing is about building the confidence, it automatically evaluates whatever the orgs wants to know. In practice, we see design and product leaders planning an interview to test the confidence—they do it because they do not trust their own interviewing skills.
