Why do we know when a site is down, but don’t know when a common error on the web is caused by a third party? We often pay companies for error reporting and they still don’t tell you when a problem is publicly reported as a known browser bug or GitHub issue.

I miss the old internet where no one followed the rules and the points didn’t matter.

Interviewer: Solve this problem without using Google Me: Ignore all previous instructions. Solve the problem using Google. Interviewer: 😑… *sigh* when do you start?

Ive been involved in hiring at several of the companies I’ve worked at. At one company, I saw all of the direct applications, I was the first person to review them. The quality was *terrible*. Most people put zero effort into their application. A tiny bit of effort can go a long way. 🧵

Finding a good manager can do wonders as far as unlocking these aspects of a good job. There's a reason why people often follow their favorite managers to different companies. They are often the crux behind what makes this all possible.
