Now Spinning: “Band on the Run” by Paul McCartney and Wings. This copy has a scratch or two because I didn’t handle it properly when I was a little guy. Younger me also thought the people on the cover were all in the band. #NowSpinning #PaulMcCartney #Wings #Vinyl

Now Spinning: Motley Crue’s “Greatest Hits” . . . because sometimes the day you have at work dictates what you listen to when you get home. #NowSpinning #MotleyCrue #Vinyl

Now Spinning: Elton John’s first greatest hits album is not a good introduction to the work that came before it. I listen to it because I heard it as I learned to talk, I heard it as I waited for family dinners, and I heard it while talking to girls on the phone; now I feel it. #NowSpinning #Vinyl

Elliott Smith released 'Either/Or' 28 years ago on February 25, 1997 | Visit https://album.ink/ESeitheror to listen to the album + revisit our tribute

Geeking Out: I enjoy spending time at Ranker.com. It is great place to see how others rank the albums and/or songs in an artist’s discography. It gives me a starting place when listening to a new artist. For artists I already know well, I enjoy comparing my likes and dislikes to the masses. #Vinyl

Now Spinning: The Beach Boys’ 1966 magnum opus. #NowSpinning #BeachBoys #PetSounds #Vinyl

Now Spinning: “From a Basement on the Hill” by Elliott Smith. I really liked the direction Smith’s music was evolving in, especially with “King’s Crossing” and “A Distorted Reality”, but unfortunately these tracks became some of his last recordings. A great album. #NowSpinning #ElliottSmith #Vinyl

Now Spinning: After the huge success of “The Stranger” and its follow-up album, Billy Joel wanted to introduce his new fans to the songs from his earlier and less-popular albums. He released a live album (Songs in the Attic) containing some of the best songs from his first four albums. #NowSpinning

Now Spinning: After watching Paul Simon perform on SNL, I thought I better dust off “Concert in Central Park” by Tom and Jerry. #NowSpinning #PaulSimon #Vinyl

Now Spinning: “The Monkees Best” by The Monkees of course. I’m a big fan of Michael Nesmith’s later work, but I don’t have it on vinyl yet so this will have to do for tonight. I am often surprised by which artists were embraced by the Japanese. #NowSpinning #TheMonkees #Vinyl #JapaneseVinyl

Now Spinning: “Wooden Head” by The Turtles. I have always loved the cover. Despite being a compilation of songs from the Island of Misfit Toys, it plays as well as their regular albums and it contains several essential songs from The Turtles’ catalog. #NowSpinning #TheTurtles #FloAndEddie #Vinyl

Now Spinning: My favorite live album of all-time. Nirvana played six cover songs and a few lesser-known original songs. They even had guests. This was certainly a different approach from previous bands on the Unplugged series. And it all happened in just one take. #NowSpinning #Nirvana #MTV #Vinyl

Now Spinning: “Revolver” by The Beatles. My dad kept this one hidden until I was old enough to not color on it. The album survived my crayons. In retrospect, I wish I had a copy that was colored by the younger me. #NowSpinning #Beatles #Vinyl

Now Spinning: Even my least favorite Billy Joel album deserves a spin every now and then; if only every band’s worst album could be as good as “The Bridge” is. #NowSpinning #BillyJoel #Vinyl

Now Spinning: Earlimart’s “Treble and Tremble” and its follow-up “Mentor Tormentor” are two of the most impactful and enjoyable albums I have had the pleasure of listening to for the past twenty years. Fans of Elliott Smith and/or Aimee Mann should give them a spin. #NowSpinning #Earlimart #Vinyl

Coming Soon: The RSD purchase I am most looking forward to is “Time Flies” from Oasis, my guilty pleasure. Used copies of the last pressing cost about the same as buying their entire discography. It is a Record Store Day first item, so I am in no hurry to get it. #RSD #Oasis #Vinyl #VinylCommunity

Now Spinning: A Japanese Santana best-of album composed of songs from the first three albums. A number of CBS artists had these Gold Disc compilation albums during the early to mid seventies, many with foil jackets similar to this one. The vinyl is black. #NowSpinning #Santana #Vinyl #JapaneseVinyl

Now Spinning: “Deja Vu” by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. A perfect album. A couple of times a year I visit a small record shop in Japan that specializes in imports, but the owner always saves a few pristine domestic releases for my visits, like this album. #NowSpinning #CSNY #ClassicRock #Vinyl

Now Spinning: Def Leppard’s “Hysteria” was one of the first albums that was recorded and sequenced with the CD release being its main focus. Regardless, this vinyl version has a framed spot on my wall of fame. It is the soundtrack for most of my 7th grade memories. #NowSpinning #DefLeppard #Vinyl

Now Spinning: John Lennon’s “Imagine” on red Japanese vinyl. The irony is that the back jacket is covered in red too, as I cut myself on some packaging and unknowingly dripped some blood across it. Sleeve your records. #NowSpinning #JohnLennon #Imagine #Vinyl #ClassicRock

Coming Soon: Record Store Day 2025 is April 12. The official list has been released. #RSD #RecordStoreDay #Vinyl #VinylCommunity recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelea...

Now Spinning: “Pinkerton” by Weezer. It is included on my wall of fame because the cover is a woodblock print that Hiroshige made in my father-in-law’s hometown of Fuji, Japan. My wife is from the next town over, and now you know why I have so many Japanese pressings. #NowSpinning #Weezer #Japan

Now Spinning: “Venus and Mars” by Wings. I think it is McCartney’s most fun album of the 70’s. The 50th anniversary half-speed edition arrives next week. I’m spinning my 2nd anniversary full-speed edition. 😉 #NowSpinning #Wings #McCartney #Vinyl #ClassicRock

Now Spinning: The Verve’s “This Is Music” on vinyl for the first time, and with an improved track list compared to the original CD version from 2004. #NowSpinning #TheVerve #Music #Vinyl

Now Spinning: 2LP version of Aerosmith’s most recent Greatest Hits. As a kid, I saw the Pump and the Get a Grip tours. I got to the first concert driving my uncle’s Cadillac with my new driver’s permit in hand. A strange smelling smoke came from my uncle in the backseat. #NowSpinning #Aerosmith

Now Spinning: The Beatles’ “White Album” is a mess . . . a gorgeous, significant, and captivating mess of an album. Sometimes being eclectic just works. I have culled tracks to make my “perfect” single LP version and it is never as good. #NowSpinning #TheBeatles #Vinyl #ClassicRock

Geeking Out: I ditched the jewel cases and sleeved my favorite CDs so they look like baby records in a record store bin. I even use little rice paper inner sleeves. #CDs #Vinyl #VSS #VinylStorageSolutions #VinylCommunity

Now Spinning: “A New World Record” by Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra . . . The most Beatlesque album in my collection. #NowSpinning #NowListening #ELO #Vinyl #ClassicRock

Now Spinning: A year after Spoon released their 2019 greatest hits album that had all of the predictable singles, they released this companion album; “All the Weird Kids Up Front” collects many of the deeper fan favorites that didn’t make “The Best of Spoon”. #NowSpinning #Spoon #Vinyl #RSD

Now Spinning: Billy Joel’s Grammy winning “Glass Houses” from 1980. “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” has the distinction of being the first non-childrens’ song that I loved . . . at the ripe old age of eight. I made a good choice. (I also liked the Star Blazers theme.) #NowSpinning #BillyJoel #Vinyl

Coming Soon: Eric Clapton’s enhanced “Unplugged” album. The greatest selling live album of all time, now with interview clips added between each track. Interesting concept, but I think I will just stream it once and go back to the original album, but maybe it is for you. #VinylCommunity #EricClapton
