there it isāthe final form of enlightened centrism.
āIf marginalized people donāt feel safe here, thatās their decision, not our responsibility.ā

2/2 Without boundaries, āinclusionā just becomes a tool for the privileged to feel good while the vulnerable remain unsafe.

1/2 Love and openness can transform people, sureābut only those who want to be transformed. Expecting marginalized people to bear the risk and emotional labor of ācuringā bigots through exposure is unrealistic.

A shared space alone doesnāt erase power imbalances or past harm. Expecting people to just get along because theyāre in the same room ignores the reality that some actively work to oppress others. Without clear boundaries, a space that tolerates bigotry only ends up protecting the bigots.

Being a naturist is a choice; you can stop anytime. But tolerating those who discriminate against people for things they canāt change isnāt open-mindedāitās naive at best and disingenuous at worst 2/2

Spoken like someone whoās never faced discrimination for who they are. Religion and politics, like gender identity and race, arenāt abstract topicsāthey shape lives in ways that canāt be checked at the door 1/2

Care to give an example of how that might work in practice

Hm. We can disagree about whether pineapple belongs on pizza, and about whether minority groups deserves hate or have their bodily autonomy revoked. A philosophy that radically ātoleratesā both kinds of dissent upholds the status quo and sides with the oppressors.

You keep saying coworker and I keep asking myself in what line of work outside the arts could you possibly have been involved in that this is a regular occurrence haha

One happy consequence of photographing my partner as we age together is seeing how my tastes have changed with us. I joke that by being with her Iāve been with many people: single lady, pregnant lady, MILF etc through it all Iāve learned that what I love isnāt her body but the person it belongs to

7/7 For me, that includes not only prohibiting sexual acts involving minors but also ensuring they are not exposed to sex acts between consenting adults, whether those adults are their parents or acquaintances.

6/? Culture must take precedence here. If weāre discussing what it means to be a sex-positive naturist, the conversation must begin with a non-negotiable principle: in most cultures, sex with a minorāeven within naturist spacesāis an absolute no.

5/? But unlike other apes, humans donāt just have sex for reproductionāour social structures are complex, and the well-being of children can be directly impacted if we reduce everything to biology alone.

4/? But humans do, and that distinction is entirely a cultural construct.
From a naturist perspective, one could argue that public sex is no different from any other biological function.

3/? Without that awareness of where and when we exist, these conversations often devolve into semantics. Biologically, weāre all naked apes. Other apes feel no shame around public sex because, in nature, there is no distinction between public and private.

2/? itās that sex-positivity means different things to different people, making common ground hard to find. If weāre going to have meaningful discussions, we need to acknowledge that sex-positivityālike all cultural conceptsāis context-dependent.
comment in response to

1/? Iām not a naturist, so maybe that disqualifies me from having a valid opinionābut coming from a different perspective, I may have some context to offer. Iāve been nude in both non-sexual and sexual public settings, and if thereās one thing Iāve learned

Thank you for commenting. I used to work the way you do, but I found it to be a double-edged swordāSince I was the one preselecting the images for review I felt a personal sting every time a client didnāt choose one I loved.

4/4 Genuinely grateful this exists. It cut through the noise, made me pause, and gave me a photography puzzle to admire.
In a world where everything moves at the speed of a galloping centaur (sue me) this pause was a real gift to the senses. Beautiful. The internet was a good place today.
