Sculpture in epoxy of Fercus, original character created by @freakyraptor.bsky.social as part of her animated series project School of Insanity (www.instagram.com/escola_da_in...). More photos: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/mAO...

Hello! A Pinned post to introduce myself! I am Vitor Silva, a paleoartist from Brazil. I work mainly with digital paintings and traditional sculptures, and will focus mostly on paleoart in this profile (with something different once in a while 😄) My ArtStation gallery: vitor_silva.artstation.com

So, a 100+ years paleontology mystery has been solved, and we now know the head of Arthropleura! Here's an updated version of a previous illustration of the Carboniferous swamps of Scotland. #SciArt #Paleoart

Jeholopterus ningchengensis, an anurognathid pterosaur that lived in China during the Middle Jurassic. Cold porcelain, 1:2 scale. #SciArt #Paleoart

Well, since we have videos now, here is an oldie from 2017 :) #SciArt #Paleoart

Agitated Seas - Toolebuc Formation Detail shots and description: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/6Lb... Artwork for Tales from the Phanerozoic, a project by João Macêdo. More info on the backstory of the scene, its environment and creatures: sites.google.com/view/talesfr... #SciArt #Paleoart

Jurassic, Golden Age - Tendaguru Formation New artowork for Tales from the Phanerozoic, a project by João Macêdo about stories of the life on Earth. Check out the backstory of this scene and information about its environment and creatures here: sites.google.com/view/talesfr...

Gerrothorax, a ~1 m long temnospondyl that lived from the Early to the Late Triassic where today are Germany, Sweden, Greenland, and Thailand. 1/5 scale model More pics: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/58G... #SciArt #Paleoart

Life and Death in the Devonian - Cleveland Shale, Late Devonian (Famenian) where it would become Ohio, USA A mother Titanichthys clarki, a big (~4 m) placoderm, gives birth while attracting unwanted attention. The water is full of predator interested both in the old giant and in the newborn (1/2)

Aegirocassis, who some people (myself included) like to call "whale-shrimp" It is a giant (~2 m long) filter feeding radiodont known from the Lower Ordovician of Morocco 1/7 scale model More pics: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/q9r... #SciArt #Paleoart

Deinonychus, whose discovery, back in 1969, challenged the views of dinosaurs as sluggish, cold-blooded animals, and was crucial to understand their connection with birds. #SciArt #Paleoart

Andrewsarchus reconstructed after its current classification, as a stem-entelodontid. For an animal not known from much material there is still a lot to restore rigorously, especially those tooth cusps. 1/14 scale model More pics: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/W26... #Paleoart #SciArt

Sacisaurus, a silesaurid from the Late Triassic of south Brazil. 1/6 scale model More pics: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/5GgZz #Paleoart #SciArt

Originally known as the "Padrillo Pterosaur", this big guy was properly described in the past year and got a name: Thanatosdrakon amaru. It lived in Argentina during the Late Cretaceous and, with an estimated ~9 m wingspan, is potentially the largest pterosaur from South America.

Plataleorhynchus was a pterosaur with a spoonbill-like snout. Its name means... "spoonbill snout". One of the artworks I made for Pteros (www.pteros.com).

Some of my works for #PortfolioDay I am Vitor Silva, and I make artistic reconstructions of the prehistorc life with scientific rigor. #Paleoart

The captorhinids from the Pedra de Fogo Formation, the earliest known herbivores from Gondwana. The larger one is an indeterminate Moradisaurinae, and the smaller ones are Captorhinikos. Artwork made for their description, check the paper: peerj.com/articles/871... #Paleoart #SciArt

The recently published Arenaerpeton supinatus, a Chigustisauridae temnospondyl from the Early-Middle Triassic Australia Interestingly, it adds an intermediate in size and time to the sequence of other Chigustisaurids recorded in the country Check the paper: bit.ly/45mjQdj #Paleoart #SciArt

Qianzhousaurus in 1/15 scale Made soon after we started reconsidering tyrannosaurids to be -mostly- scaly (post Bell et al., 2017), but kept the previous plans of a denser feathering for this piece. Given some factors, it could still be applicable on it More pics: bit.ly/3rC85BV #Paleoart #SciArt

Reconstruction of Lusitadischia, an Oedischiidae orthopteran from the Upper Carboniferous of Portugal. Artwork made for the press coverage of the publication of the taxon. Check the paper here: www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1... #SciArt

Sharovipteryx, the living delta wing from the Triassic. Life-size model. More pics: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/N5V... #SciArt

Cheirolepis, a Devonian predatory fish with big eyes and a big mouth. Lifesize model done in grayscale on the client's request. More pics: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/kDq...

During the Lower Carboniferous, Viséan age, swamps covered the territory that would become Scotland. It was a land of giants, but unusual ones: arthropods and lycophytes reached extraordinary sizes. Artwork from the Tales of Phanerozoic site: sites.google.com/view/talesfr...

The toothy and crested pterosaur Ludodactylus. Model in in 1/6 scale. More pictures: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/aYq...

Cladocynodon, a 30cm fish from the "Batateira Beds" of the Barbalha Formation (Araripe Basin). It is the first vertebrate formally described from this unit A cool feature are the big lower fangs - not true teeth, but extensions of jaw bone itself! Check is description: www.mdpi.com/1424-2818/15...

Lightning Ridge, Australia, during the mid-Cretaceous. The eusuchian Isisfordia molnari (or I. selaslophensis) appears swimmig near a sauropod. Artwork I did for the description of the species published in 2019 (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles...).

1/30 scale Parasaurolophus model from 2019. It is always cool to work on classic dinosaurs.

Proganochelys, a stem-turtle from the Triassic. Model in 1/4 scale. More pictures here: vitor_silva.artstation.com/projects/qAq...

Rubidgeine gorgonopsids from the Late Permian of South Africa + a full body rendition of Rubidgea itself. Those predators lived in the same place and time, so it is interesting to think about what kind of adaptations and specializations allowed their coexistence.

I'm in! Good hopes for this site, and happy to see many friends from other places already here! To start my profile, a recent artwork: a view of the Santa Maria Formation.
