One of my favourite covers. 'Shake it Off' covered by Screaming Females. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm1-...

1. Duh; but 2. Somehow politicians and big media companies don't realize it. 3. Or more likely, they're trying to pretend that it's something else so we don't try to eat them.

I mean, I guess I should probably be glad that Trump is still net underwater with Conservatives, but still, what the hell man?

It took a week for the shoe to drop, but I’m officially laid off. It’s not the lack of job that troubles me per se, I just hate the testing process in programmer interviews. I don’t think they test anything that’s meaningfully linked to performance, usually.

Im personally a pacifist, but I also recognize that every time fascism has been pushed back, it has been through violence. Like we literally just marked the anniversary of d-day, and then scold people not to fight fascism unless they do it gently.

A good reminder that the Liberals are run by neoliberal capitalists and they’re not our friends.

I lost so many good colleagues with the layoffs today. I actually still don’t know my official status.

People Can Fly cancels two projects and will lay off workers

Apple or whoever is in charge of this, if you made a little figurine of Murderbot like in the show opening, I would buy it. Probably two. Plus a few for friends. And maybe some “Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon” Xmas tree ornaments?

There’s still a genocide going on. I know that I’m largely preaching to the converted, but it’s still important to hear these things.

Government programs work. They can even be good for the economy. If you focus on making people’s lives better and more affordable, it can actually happen.

This is how you know capitalism is busted as hell: nobody is building that in North America. You have to beg these assholes to just take our money and they refuse.

My sister got her PhD yesterday and I am very proud of her. She also has a shot at a position as town crier with that outfit.

You know, I see how hard Vancouver tries with the sidewalks and bike lanes and trains, but it’s an inescapable fact that the city is still car-centric and not people-centric. Cities are for people! Definitionally. Cars are merely a conveyance, they don’t need to be so prominent.

Also, got a bike fit with an experienced bike fitter today and I’m so stoked to get home and get back to riding!

Stop using google search. It’s slop. Either pay for Kagi or at least use DuckDuckGo.

Okay, so I drove to Vancouver today (sister is getting her phd, something worth showing up for). I’ve been renting various vehicles for the last year to get to Kelowna and they’ve been an assortment of small SUVs. People, SUVs suck. The small ones especially. They’re bad at literally everything.

Sounds like a way to sell phones. People will get annoyed instantly and fling their phone into the ocean and have to buy a new one.

Finally watched Murderbot tonight and I enjoyed it very much. Whoever is creating the opening sequence for AppleTV+ shows needs a raise; they’re excellent. Also (re)started Andor which has a lame opening sequence and horrendous background landscape special effects. Startlingly cheap looking.
