This is artist Louis Zamore van Wicky (Berbice 1778- Amsterdam 1805) hours before his early death in 1805. Louis Zamore was a draughtsman born in the plantation colony of #Berbice. He was a member of the Stadstekenacademie ("City Drawing Academy"). #BlackHistoryMonth #Amsterdam #day19

Dit is Louis Zamore van Wicky (1778-1805), lid van de stadstekenacademie in het Stadhuis in Amsterdam. Louis Zamore is geboren in Berbice en overleden in Amsterdam. Helaas in 1805 te vroeg overleden. Er zijn op dit moment geen tekeningen van zijn hand bekend.

This is Lou Drenthe on a terrace in Amsterdam in 1930, portrayed by Nola Hatterman. Drenthe (1901-1990) was a jazz player in the blossoming scene in Amsterdam in the 1930s. He married Sara 'Letty' Gans. In the 1950s they opened a parfume shop on the Rokin. #blackhistorymonth #amsterdam750 #day17
