So true: „Good Code can’t fix a bad product“ 👏 One of the things I want to add is: „Trash in, trash out“ Meaning bad requirements will lead to a bad implementation. Therefore I often spend more time arguing about the requirements to make sure I understand the problem, than about the tech.

Unerträglich, was accounts bei x so raushauen. Hier z.B. Lindner.

This is so spot on. Two things: 1. Being focused on producing output the fastest way possible means that you will never prioritize "going deep" 2. Going deep (and down the rabbit hole) is how you learn more: but you need to balance it. Figure out how to do both: it's tricky!

Ah yes. The old tale of “if it’s not an OKR, it’s not in the sprint” 😅 I know the struggle all too well, but as Developer time still comes at a premium we often have to make uncomfortable decisions leading to “tolerable” results in one area, but progress in other key areas. #cto #priorities

What do you think this does? Curious how they taped it over to prevent accidental triggering. (Found at Munich Theresienwiese Underground Station)

So few large companies realize how powerful it is to support people when they are dealing with tough stuff, and what it does to culture. From The NVIDIA Way by @firstadopter.bsky.social Note NVIDIA is one of the very few Big Techs that never did mass layoffs. These things can add up.

People told me having employees is hard. I shrugged them off. But man is it hard. 😓 I only have two contractors and all I want is that they do the task just like it is in my mind. But I'm starting to suspect they, in fact, can't read my mind. I think I'm becoming a manager 😥.

“[Good] Leaders have a clear picture of what’s going on even when the work isn’t happening under their noses. They can demonstrate trust, motivation and support to all team members, even those who aren’t in the same space.” www.management-issues.com/connected/76...

“> I love the flexibility of remote work, but now I feel like I have almost no social contact […] I think there’s a deeper need that requires addressing here: You’re asking too much from your work.“ Tough but great advice: Live outside of work! www.remoteworkprep.com/blog/how-do-...

Number two is especially hard for many as they think they never get to do any „real work“ any more, and fail to understand what their work is as a a manager. When this happens I tell them my „Leadership Mantra“: „I take care of my team, my team takes care of the rest“

„But what it’s really doing, U.S. officials say, is testing components for a Russian weapon under development that could obliterate hundreds, if not thousands, of critical satellites.“ www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Diese Diskrepanz ist immer wieder erstaunlich.

The real reason why “10x engineers” they are not necessarily better at coding, but simply better at figuring out “what’s driving impact”
