A good day of skiing.

#snl50 is a mixed bag, but that is the story of the show. It certainly captures the zeitgeist with lots of shots on Trump. I find the special a bit disappointing but it does remind me of a lot of great moments from my middle school years with the original cast.

Here’s the thing. Every one of these people in tears heard Trump on the stump before Nov. They knew he was cruel. But they were fine with it, thinking he’d only hurt the people they didn’t like. The problem with cruelty—It spreads. You don’t get to control it. Sooner or later, it comes for you too.

Watching the Saturday Night Live music special. I forget how cutting edge SNL has been with music. Great show.

Joe Biden worked his magic with Trump’s unemployment rate. Trump isn’t interested in keeping people employed. He’s fired over 100,000 workers, and his tariffs will mean millions will lose their jobs. I hope those that didn’t vote know what they did to the rest of us!

The termination of 850 Indian Health Service physicians, nurses, and dentists will have a grave impact on access to care for millions of Native Americans. Upholding our treaty obligations is not optional.

Hope you all had a good Valentines Day. How it started, how it’s going.

Was the Eagles win a surprise? From a fan standpoint, yes. From a historical standpoint, not so much. The NFL was born in the 1920s from the industrial heartland. Most of the owners were Catholic in the anti-Catholic 1920s. They focused on the survival of the league, not the success of individual

@mrpeterframpton.bsky.social finally watched Peter Frampton’s overdue induction into the R&R HOF. He reached a wide audience and multiple generations. I loved his comment about reinventing his passion for guitar and his shout out to his father and David Bowie. Legend. @“Kindness is King.” Thanks!

Fun night.

I lost my close friend of 25 years today. Dr. Ed Crowther hired me at ASU and was my chair and mentor until he retired in 2018. Check out his edited book, The Enduring Lost Cause: Afterlives of a Redeemer Nation (U. Of Tenn. Press, 2020). A great professor who impacted thousands of students.

I hate seeing California now. So sad.

In his own words the MAGA king said he’d let California burn

2024 can pound sand. Looking forward to the new year.

I grew up 50 miles from Wounded Knee, and yesterday was the anniversary of the massacre. I have done tour guiding around the country, including Wounded Knee. I think this is the most eerie and haunting place; no one goes there, it seems. Little Big Horn is always crowded; Wounded Knee.
