Warhammer Old World players! If anyone is in the Newcastle area on the evening of 20th March, our club is hosting a narrative Old World game. All are welcome. facebook.com/events/s/the...

One of my friends has persuaded me to take a small break from my Romans to paint up an Undead warband for Mordheim. I've already got some painted minis that I'm rebasing for it (including a rather suave looking Dracula) but naturally I needed more ghouls! @badsquiddogames.bsky.social

Pretty happy with how these Auxilia and scorpio crew have turned out. I've been trying a new painting style for doing the skin of the Auxilia which has been interesting. While I'm not sure I prefer it over contrasts, I think it works well for this style of sculpt.

Want to know what Chain of Command 2 has to offer? In this exclusive video, I had a chat with Rich all about the new aspects of the second edition of CoC, we talked about how history shapes the rules, what stuff to expect and how the rules were developed over the past few years youtu.be/w8AyZehp3ys

Had another fun game at the club tonight of Old World. This time I was introducing a new player to the game who was using his very nicely painted Ogre force.

This is what I'm currently reading (researching for future minis). Although very technical, it is surprisingly accessible. Lots of good information, including a comparison of different types of armour from the standpoint of production time, durability, protection, etc.

I've had the house to myself for a couple of days so I've ended up doing a lot of painting. My Early Imperial Roman force is starting to take shape and I've built a bunch more Caesarian Romans. I've also made progress on my group's 2025 3rd edition 40k nostalgia project.

⭐️ PLEASE READ! We will be moving offices this week, which means the packing area & minis will be packed tomorrow, so tonight is the cut off to place any orders to ship pre move. More info in the alt text buff.ly/3lumMPr

I'm on the train back to Newcastle after spending the weekend in Yorkshire and I'm delving into the Midgard rules. Have to say I'm really impressed so far - clear, concise and flavourful. Very excited to get a practice game played sometime soon.

Not a wargame, but Ticket to Ride is nonetheless a fun game to chill out with on a Sunday evening.

Hot off the press! Looks like this weekend's reading is sorted. If you've read this issue of @wssmagazine.bsky.social please let me know what you think of my Omaha article.

The start of my Imperial Roman army. Just need shields which will be tomorrow's task. To begin with this'll just be a small skirmish force but who knows what'll happen down the line.

One little house done ready for my Gauls to move in. Three more to go.

Would you be able to help us and our neighbours with a sign or share? The council have behaved appallingly with this. www.change.org/p/save-the-m...

One of the things I want to do with my mini range is ensure that they are compatible with other ranges. I have therefore decided to go for a middle of the road solution to be compatible with the majority of 28mm ranges. This is an example of one of my shields with a WG legionary.

THEY'RE ALIVE! Alan Marsh has been working hard on the blanks for my upcoming Jewish Revolt figure range and he's just shared the fruits of his labour with me (with the caveat that he is making a few final adjustments). I am so excited with how these are shaping up! He's also been making helmets.

I have just written a new review on my blog: "Foundry Miniatures Paint Review: Initial Impressions of the Starter Set" wargameswriter838893051.wordpress.com/2025/02/11/f...

Having seen loads of people having fun with Midgard I decided I needed to see what all the fuss was about.

I've just finished off my Sarissa fortifications. For something that started out as a fairly simple MDF and cardboard kit I am very happy with the outcome. It also feels robust and lightweight. Now I just need some roundhouses to put inside it. Cat for scale.

Go go go!

Time for a proper resupply of paints I think.

This is the paint I use by the way for base coating bigger terrain pieces, such as the fortified village I'm working on at the moment. I got it years ago on sale - unless I ever have a brown fence I doubt I'll ever get to the bottom of it.

Work in progress on my barbarian fortified village - sand has been glued to the walls ready to be painted and drybrushed.

I have renewed my membership of the University library so I can start researching ideas for the second wave of miniatures. While wave two will be a long way off (wave 1 isn't even sculpted yet after all) I figured it wouldn't hurt to get ahead of things.

I had some spare time today so managed to finish assembling the fortifications for my Gallic village. Next up I need to build the houses, and then it'll be onto painting and decorating.

I do love the smell of MDF in the evening. This is my next project. Looks like it might be a big'un.

On a whim I decided to play a game of Infamy today. I think I finally have a good grasp of the rules and the game went a lot more smoothly. I played the patrol scenario, with some Gauls trying to sneak into Roman territory.
