The USA has had a few cycles in which the rich acted like oligarchs & got out of hand. The slavocrats. The robber barons. Reasonable people, who just want to make an honest living, have to roll up our magazines & rap them across their snouts to behave.

Phang: It says, “Both major candidates have vowed to pursue a constitutional amendment to curtail the power of the president. The most decisive factor influencing voter sentiment appears to be the issues of martial law and impeachment.” So why the hell are we not doing the same damn thing here?

A bipartisan group of legal heavyweights, including many prominent conservative and libertarian lawyers, filed a friend-of-the-court brief arguing that President Trump’s tariffs exceeded constitutional limits on executive power.

Man, I warned people about this guy YEARS ago and everybody was like, whatever Spiers, you’re terminally online, internet brain poisoned, this cannot possibly be important

It feels like we must be living in the stupidest period in history if a guy like Curtis Yarvin is considered “an intellectual”

This is harrowing. Thank goodness for these observant bystanders! Do you know the universal sign for help? I didn’t. As more young men fall victim to the Tates & misogynists of the world, we all need to be more aware! See below for the signal. ⬇️ 🧵 (posted on IG by @juliettelewis.bsky.social)

Imagine what this woman and her family went through. All for what?

They promised to root out waste and abuse and found none, and in the process wasted money and abused innocent people. They promised to deport 20 million people but are not getting anywhere near that, so they are desperately arresting anyone they can get their hands on whilst wearing face masks.

Flood the line.

Here's something everybody should be paying attention to: Congressional Republicans are trying to weaken the Affordable Care Act and put millions of people at risk of losing their health care. Call your Senators and tell them we can't let that happen.

I am just revisiting Palantir's Q1 2022 earnings call. A lot of misleading and somewhat bizarre characterisations of politics and political institutions, but what struck me is this: Palantir needs crisis to thrive, what if that plays a role in where we are today? www.ft.com/content/e28a...

Free to read "Trump signed an executive order calling for the federal government to share data across agencies" "a master list of personal information on Americans that could give him untold surveillance power." "They have turned to one company: Palantir" @carolecadwalla.bsky.social is right.

With Palantir finally receiving the attention it deserves, we wrote an article documenting Thiel’s history with Zuckerberg, his influence over JD Vance, and the connection between his neoreactionary ideology and Russell Vought’s Project 2025. It has always been Thiel’s plan to destroy democracy.

I'm frustrated with the Democratic Party, but I also recognize that the opposition to TACO is going to need a big war chest to fight the good fight. 🤷‍♀️

Breaking News: Loretta Swit, who played Maj. Margaret Houlihan on the hit TV series “M*A*S*H,” has died at 87.

“According to the Partnership for Public Service, which studies the federal work force, DOGE’s attacks on government personnel — its firings, rehirings, use of paid administrative leave and all the associated lack of productivity — could cost the government upwards of $135 billion this fiscal year”

Civics 101: presidents are not kings…

"Where are the Democratic leaders? We should have been dancing on this (the "We're all going to die!" remarks of Sen. Joni Earnst to her constituents who complained of healthcare cuts) two seconds after she said it!" -Rev. Al Sharpton He's exactly right. Where are they?

Hurricane season is set to begin Sunday, and this year is forecasted to be above average.

"America cannot function if President Nixon has his sensitive Oval Office conversations examined by activist judges" was almost exactly the last sputterings in Watergate, so good luck with that.

This’ll be just like when the trump Admin 1.0 publicly broke up with Sidney Powell but they kept working together anyhow.

Instead of tacos on every street corner, we ended up having a 🌮 in the White House.

It’s always “two weeks”

You may be shocked to learn that the answer to people's utter lack of faith in democratic institutions is not an esoteric conversation about building and zoning codes

Stock futures after court strikes down Trump‘s so-called Liberation Day. So much winning.🤣😂

Constituent: Trump and his cabinet in addition to being totally unqualified and inept are breaking laws by ignoring federal judge's orders. When are you going to do the responsibility you are elected for by holding the executive branch accountable up to and including impeachment?

America is waking up! Rep. Ashley Hinson got heckled at her own town hall in Decorah after praising Donald Trump and the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” that just passed the House. Iowa, y’all!

"The Rockefellers and the Vanderbilts back in the Guilded Age had a lot of influence [on] American politics," @danw329.bsky.social told @techcrunch.com. But "they didn't literally have offices in the White House."

"To build public understanding of and resistance to democratic backsliding, we have to speak to what people feel in their everyday lives."

Ignorance helps keep Trump in power.

Fifty years after he was graduated from Princeton University, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell delivered the baccalaureate address at his alma mater. This is how he ended the speech:

Before screwworms were eradicated in the U.S., every cut, every scratch, every navel of a newborn calf threatened to turn fatal. Now the parasites are heading back toward us. @sarahzhang.bsky.social reports:

CNBC: Are you thinking eventually tariffs will get down to the level that businesses can negotiate within -- 10% or less -- or do you think a lot of this is going to be paid by the American consumer too? HASSETT: Well in the end that's going to be up to the president
