Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government. No one has heard from you in 63 days. As vigil, I’m posting a photo of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.

I missed this last week: Texas immigrant advocates "said they were not able to confirm the whereabouts of three children aged 9, 5, and 4—the youngest two of whom are U.S. citizens born and raised in Austin, Texas—after they were deported to Mexico with their mother, Denisse Parra Vargas. "

Aaaand there it is.

1. Rumeysa Ozturk, a 30-year-old Turkish doctoral student at Tufts, speaks after a federal judge ordered her release following her arrest by federal agents on the street. She calls the United States “the greatest democracy in the world” and says she has “faith in the American justice system.”

@billshaner.bsky.social reports from the scene of a brutal ICE arrest in Worcester, Massachusetts: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

AOC: We need to be talking about ICE agents and the cowardly policy of covering their faces — and, in many cases, their identification… The idea that we’re going to allow a paramilitary force to bloom, one that isn’t accountable to the Constitution… we’ve got another thing coming.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra captured video of a 16-year-old girl's face being held on the ground by Worcester police officers; she and her mother were detained in an apparent ICE operation #immigration

Nationwide protests are being organized for June 14, the same day as Trump’s birthday and military parade, at nokings.org (Alt-text)

I like telling authoritarians where to shove it in multiple languages

My favorite sign of the #MayDay protest in California, Maryland. Over a hundred people showed up. #HandsOff

Mike Waltz has left the chat.

yeah i am pretty much on the side of primary everyone

BREAKING: Police just surrounded Rev. William Barber, prominent activist and pastor, as he and others prayed in the U.S. Capitol Rontunda. Police then expelled everyone (including press!) from the Rotunda to (presumably) arrest them. I've covered protests here a lot. Never seen anything like it.

Our meeting with Rümeysa Öztürk was a true testament to her character. She remains kind-hearted and courageous, despite the cruelty she is enduring at the facility. I asked her pointedly if she had a message for the people of Somerville, she said thank you for being her community.

Trump’s executive action targeting ActBlue is a “brazen attack on democracy in America." Beware the erosion of the traditional separation between the White House and the Department of Justice. www.huffpost.com/entry/donald...

Before they exiled the kids, they used them as hostages. I hate this so much. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

😍

This line is going to stick with me for a very long time. “One of them is a 4-year-old with Stage 4 cancer who was deported without medication or the ability to contact their doctors…”

Donald Trump ordered the Department of Justice to investigate the leading platform through which Democrats raise money for their campaigns. Less that 100 days in, Trump is weaponizing DOJ to prevent his political opponents from funding opposition campaigns. Where is the outrage?

. Trump blew up the Iran deal, lit the Middle East on fire, and now blames Biden for not bringing marshmallows. Meanwhile, we’ve been bombing Yemen nonstop for weeks 🤫 quietly. Tell a lie loud enough, and suddenly you’re the firefighter not the arsonist. .

Trump sent the Justice Department after ActBlue, an effort to target his political opposition with criminal investigations

⚠️ First, Trump targets sites like ActBlue that help fund his opponents. ⚠️ Next, it’ll be the voters themselves. And we better take that seriously.

Mahmoud Khalil, a legal U.S. resident, has been held in an ICE detention center for over a month but has still not been charged with a crime.

One of the most shocking things I have read for a while: t.co/lg46ijHLDF

Walz: "This is how government is supposed to work. It's not supposed to be one old man in the Oval Office sending out middle of the night tweets that shock markets into free fall. It's not supposed to be a bunch of 20 somethings unelected and firing everyone. It's not supposed to be chaos."

Pathetic. Putin isn't even on Truth Social but it'll get back to him, and he will just laugh his ass off. Just like the rest of the world is laughing at us right now.

Confirming Hegseth really was insanely reckless.

A+

lol

Van Hollen is, curiously, one of very few electeds acting the way the founders envisioned—using the opportunity of one of the branches overreaching to further his own career. It’s a good thing, but passing strange we don’t see more of it.

ICYMI: 23andMe went bankrupt and now your DNA tests may be sold to the highest bidder. The best way to protect your sensitive personal information – like sexual or reproductive health data – is for Congress to pass my bill, the My Body, My Data Act.

What I'm saying to you is Punchbowl took a huge story VULNERABLE HOUSE REPUBLICANS OPEN TO UNINSURING 20+ MILLION and turned it into a grudging, principled decision with almost no human consequences whatsoever

Honestly, me too.

Reported earlier today that a new DOGEr, Roland Tenglong Shen, who works at Thiel-backed payments company Ramp, is now at Treasury's central payments hub. A request for comment through LinkedIn went unanswered and now Shen's LinkedIn profile has disappeared. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/rampi...

Is the consensus among mainstream journalists that the White House slandering a man they delivered into slavery using a crudely manipulated photo in the president’s grasp in the Oval Office is just not a very newsworthy event?

Goldman on Abrego Garcia: "If he had due process he would not have been removed. Then they would've had to go through the process of proving it. This is why due process matters- so you don't make mistakes like this. That you do have a neutral arbiter that decides the law. Not the executive branch."

If you defend this or try and explain this away, you’re a monster and I don’t know how you sleep at night.

🚨URGENT—Despite the Supreme Court declaring that it would be illegal to deport people under the Alien Enemies Act without giving them a meaningful chance to seek judicial review, the Trump admin is reportedly about to send a group of Venezuelans detained in Texas to El Salvador in a matter of hours!

“We have a system of checks and balances. A tyrant can always be stopped as long as congress has a spine.” Congress:

With all the videos of police illegally entering people’s home using intimidation & force to detain & deport American if not worse. Black peoples have dealt with that for centuries. It’s police brutality. That is beyond unconstitutional. That is why Colin Kaepernick knelt.… Now do you f’n get it?
