Stop the attacks on our students, educators, and communities! On Saturday, May 17, we will raise our voices against attacks launched by the Trump administration. Join our #FightForSchools at cta.org/ffs

This funding was part of the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, meant to place 14,000 mental health professionals in schools. Thanks to the Trump/Musk Administration, our students are being robbed of these bipartisan supported and approved mental health supports they need to thrive and learn.

Solidarity is a verb. That’s why, from NorCal to SoCal and everywhere in between, educators are proud to rise up with our fellow workers for #MayDay! Are you joining a rally or march today? Drop your photos in the comments! #WeAreCTA

Please help to spread the word!! @wearecta.bsky.social is holding rallies statewide on May 17th. The rally for the Central Valley will be in Hanford. Let’s show up to fight for our school!! ✊🏼 💙

School closures are disruptive and cause short- and long-term harm to students, families and communities. Despite what school district administrators tell parents and communities, research shows that closing schools doesn’t actually save any money.

The Trump/Musk Administration is taking a wrecking ball to public schools to pay for tax handouts for billionaires. Dismantling the Department of Education means defunding programs that feed, educate, and protect our most vulnerable students. nea.org/department-education

On May 17, we're fighting back. The Trump/Musk Administration is targeting students and families in our communities with their vicious plans to dismantle public education. Sign up for a rally near you at cta.org/ffs!

Pregnancy leave for educators is an issue that unites Democrats, Independents and Republicans. If states like Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Tennessee, and Georgia can offer pregnancy leave for educators, California can too. It’s time for #AB65. It’s time for #PregnancyLeaveNow!

My grandparents put me in Head Start as a kid and it was one of the first places that got me excited about school and learning. It’s so sad that they’re coming for programs like this that help so many.

This is unconscionable. I’m a product of the Head Start program. It helped get me and my parents acclimated into the community when they spoke no English. My parents could work and afford an apartment while they got settled after being refugees. Head Start actually saved us.

I worked at Headstart when I was in college. I was having a hard time and there’s nothing like a group of 4-year olds to make you realize your problems aren’t important. They were gifts from God! It’s a crime to consider ending this program to give anything to billionaires.

Head start returns $9 to the economy for every $1 spent on it. It's largely considered the most successful social program in the US.

just this week, my kid was *telling me* how much Head Start benefited her. Guess I'll be calling my Red State member reps to say "Hey, this definitely isn't the way to making us great again" 😞

I have been a teacher at a Head Start program for the last fifteen years. The work we do absolutely makes a difference in the lives of the children and families we support who couldn't otherwise afford daycare. Eliminating Head Start would literally take food out of the mouths of babies.

The Trump/Musk movement is a hate movement. It is targeting programs and institutions that promote the common good BECAUSE they promote the common good. Every Trump voter that sees their neighbour arrested says “I didn’t mean for THEM to get hurt…BUT I do still want to see others hurt.”

INT. OVAL OFFICE, DAY “What can we do to convince people to have more kids?” “Hmm, just spitballing here… How about eliminating Head Start funding?” “That’s crazy, sir. So crazy it just might work!”

Head Start is also invaluable to military kids. Moving in the middle of school years, with different district and testing requirements even domestically- this helps provide some stability & resources. A lot of my peers were in it. They weren't NOT smart; just had schooling disrupted.

i'm a head start baby from the first gen of the program. my mom worked for the program off and on in her career, from the start of it in washington, dc, to retiring from the program in tulare county, california.

For Earth Day, let's foster a love of our planet and empower the next generation to make a positive impact and lead the way in our pursuit of environmental justice. Check out these K-12 lesson plans, teaching tips, ideas for differentiation, and teacher-tested advice for April 22 and beyond.

Children who participate in Head Start have better outcomes in language, literacy, and math. They have better social skills and approaches to learning. But the Trump/Musk Administration is willing to undermine our students' future success just to fund tax cuts for billionaires.

Students who feel safe at school are students who are ready to learn. Visit cta.org/ffs to join our fight to ensure that every student, regardless of immigration status, feels safe at school! #FightForSchools

Last month, federal agents seized Kilmar Abrego Garcia, transporting him to an El Salvador prison where he faces harsh conditions. Now is the time for us to take action to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home! Write to your member of Congress using the link below. #BringKilmarHome

Dismantling the Department of Education means defunding programs that feed, educate, and protect our most vulnerable and underserved students. We won’t stand by while attacks from the Trump/Musk administration threaten critical resources for students. Join our fight at cta.org/ffs #FightForSchools

Imagine losing your home. Then, months later, your job. For twelve teachers in Pasadena, that's their reality.

For decades, public employees in 26 states have been subject to punitive and discriminatory measures that reduced their Social Security benefits. In December, Congress finally voted to repeal the laws, ending a marathon of activism by union educators across the country.

It's a beautiful day for solidarity! 🌞✊️ 100s of Fremont educators, students and families came out for a community art build in support of Fremont Unified District Teachers Association's fight for smaller class sizes & the resources all Fremont students deserve! #WeAreFUDTA #UnionStrong #StrikeReady

Educators and parents know that teaching should be guided by what is best for students, not by threat of illegal restrictions and punishment. Instead, Trump is threatening to withhold federal funding from public schools that promote an inclusive education for all students. This is unconscionable.

We won’t stand by while the attacks from the Trump/Musk administration threaten resources for students. We have the power to demand Congress protect funding for students and the Department of Education programs we all rely on, and to keep schools safe from ICE Raids. Join the fight at cta.org/ffs!

Communities are under attack across California as school districts consider closing schools to “solve” budget problems caused by declining enrollment, expiration of COVID funding and inadequate funding from the state. But educators' collective action keeps our schools open!

We stand in solidarity with our union family @seiu.org and Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, who was illegally detained for exercising her First Amendment rights. These dangerous attacks enforced by Trump must stop. We must protect our democracy.

Earlier we documented the theatrics of Assemblymember Bill Essayli & his cohort of highly paid activist orgs pushing bills they knew would fail in Sacramento- that group has wrought havoc in SoCal schools & tormented LGBTQ+ students/allies/teachers. Performance is powerful. The right knows this.

We had to ask him to stop tbh

¡Sí se puede! We were proud to join thousands of workers for this year’s March for Immigrant Workers. The best way to remember Cesar Chavez is to organize and throughout his life, he was a steadfast supporter of extending citizenship and labor rights to immigrant workers.
