More early February, Bankhead National Forest, AL. Trying to catch everything up.

Early February, Bankhead National Forest, AL.

When I feel lost, I return to what strengthens.

Spider Sam, Spider Sam, breaks his knees whenever he can, he forgets, he’s 45, now it’s time for heat pads and ice. Look out, there’s the limpy Spider Sam!

MapQuest still exists and follows named locations via the International Hydrographic Organization.

When I get stressed I submit poems and then I stress about why I did that. About 60 poems, three manuscripts and a dozen and a half journals I’m waiting to hear back on.

Fridays mean nothing anymore all days are equally tiresome now

I don’t even know what to share anymore. Just be kind to each other or something. That seems so hard to do these days.

I no longer believe art can save the world, but I believe still that it can save me. So in the face of chaos, misinformation, hatred & ignorance, I'm going to make more art, experience more, share more, pay for more & publish more. I started this in darkness & it'll continue to be my light. 🖤🤍

New poem out today in Subliminal Surgery. I first wrote it when I was 9 years old. I recently came across a handful of poems I wrote at that age and decided to approach them as an erasure poem project. Included is the original version as well. subliminal.surgery/vernalization/

Don’t thank me in advance you have no idea what I’m capable of forgetting to do

Two weeks between poems is a bit too long for me these days. To think at one point I went years between poems…

My new book is out now from Alien Buddha Press! Support a small press and order one! amazon.com/dp/B0DPKTQ9W2

a poem I just had published is 7 years old & was rejected by 20 other journals. I've had poems rejected 50-100 times & finally published after 20 years. Rejections just mean your work has found its true home yet.

Hiking for the first time since October. Tired tonight but happy to get back out there. Bankhead National Forest, AL

Life is no competition, but I believe in celebrating your wins. It wasn’t an easy year. There were plenty of lows. I was laid off. I’ve had my share of health issues, more than I’m used to. Robin as well. But we also adopted our wonderful pup Pru.

And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Credits in Dead Lit Journals

It took almost two years, but I finally pushed through sorting poems out about Lulu. Hard to believe it’s been almost two years since she passed. I love always had the intention of writing a book about her. Now I sit here staring at sixty some odd poems.

Six poems in three days. This is an interesting flip. But it be fair yesterday was a bad day mentally for me and I wrote four to try and get myself out of the funk. It didn’t work. Holidays always end up depressing me somehow.

I may finally dip my toes into erasure poetry, with maybe the worst approach I’ve ever had. But sometimes that’s where one gets surprised.

New micropoems out today in Heliosparrow Poetry Journal! heliosparrow.com/submissions/

“…Whoever we are is dissolved by the dark, but the part that’s as small as a spark that we share with the others? It’s just enough light.” —Ted Kooser “Three A.M.”, from A Suite of Moons

Birdwatching. In other news I now have 28 poems sent to 11 different journals. After saying I was done for the year. Go figure.

Dear humans, Just wanted to share something I've been quiet about, in the year of my loud self-doubt, with gratitude to @sarabandebooks.bsky.social and to many others whom I look forward to thanking in the coming months, MY HERESIES, forthcoming in April 2025.đź–¤ www.sarabandebooks.org/all-titles/p...

What would it hurt to send out a few more poems?
