Good morning good morning, my wish for you today is a small achievement. Have a couple, if you’re up for it.

Why do we not celebrate the cultural impact of the ‘total eclipse’ Jaffa Cake woman?

If someone answered me with “Now!” there’d be a chance I’d instantly gain enlightenment.

🚨 IWD is coming, and so is the corporate hypocrisy. Every year, companies post about valuing women—while underpaying them, sidelining mothers, and blocking real change. If your employer says one thing but does another, tell me. 📩 DM me or share anonymously: forms.office.com/e/ACGX3aqHnc

I'm writing a book about accessible communication with @matissenelis.com and it's available for pre-order: uk.bookshop.org/p/books/acce... #Accessibility #a11y #Communications

accidentally thought about Belle, that instagirl who faked cancer, so then I thought about my friends who’ve faced cancer, and then I inadvertently wondered how I’d cope with a deadly illness. Then I remembered that my brain wiring could kill me any day and getting treatment is a nightmare.

i'll be okay just let me catastrophize this first

“Would you like some fucking cabbage with your godawful horseradish mash? It’s extra.” #Apprentice #TheApprentice

We should have stopped here

Mozilla Monitor tracks data breaches that affect me. It's a good service: monitor.mozilla.org This email is, I think, phishing. I hovered over the links, and they look dodgy.

Sorry, are you labouring under the assumption that your communications will be read? So you're just banging out sentence after sentence, with the assumption that the reader's brain will put it all together once they've read everything? Wow.

The purpose of a company is to make the employees financially secure and comfortable, by way of delivering value to customers. Anything else is super awks.

Once had a document management system and intranet where many, many search results showed as "YOU'RE HAVING A BABY!" because a dozen people all used the same dumb Word doc to start their documents.

Reminder to go into File >> Properties and edit the meta data of every file you create or edit.

Such good people involved with the Step Two intranet and digital workplace awards, get your entry in early: www.steptwo.com.au/awards/enter/

When you can, avoid number-only date formats. Sighted users could be confused on whether the first number is the month or day. If you've incorrectly designated your document's language, screen reader users might hear the wrong date. Writing out the month prevents this confusion.

Plant daddies and plant people, what tiny, low, ‘ground covering’ plant can I use in this pot, please?

I didn't know you could be allergic to some raw foods, but not when they're cooked. I love learning, and I love stupidity:

What a day! Not only am I building an intranet with a new client team, but I have sent three (3) formal external emails. Do you know how long it takes me to review my own words, knowing they'll be taken very seriously? Sheesh.

I like to look around Linux. I sometimes download new GNU / Linux distros via torrenting. I'm now certain that legal, everyday torrenting causes my Virgin broadband service to stop. Like, a total halt. I believe this is on purpose, and not a misconfiguring at my end.

Here's a design pattern I sometimes bring to SharePoint intranet home pages and department site landing pages. I'll use the 'call to action' or 'editorial' web part to show an image and then repeat the image as the background of the horizontal section #intranet #SharePoint #design #designsystem

Every heard of OKLCH? Samuel Wong wrote a nice guide to explain that color space to designers I’m really looking forward to more support in design tools, because I like the possibilities of building palettes, with less tokens, while keeping contrast ratios for accessibility.

Mine are ‘craft’, ‘likely’, and ‘competent’.

I am laser-focussed on shared understanding and alignment. I’m talking projects, business strategy, collaboration. Everyone has their own journey though, but I am perturbed by unspoken assumptions and under-communication.

The Luddites were not anti-technology. They were skilled textile workers whose livelihoods were undermined by mechanical looms leading them to organized and spend 5 yrs burning the machines. "Luddite" is only a pejorative now because the capitalists in power used disinformation to delegitimize them.

I worry we’re in years of ‘Content Apocalypse’ with AI slop, cheap processes, and valueless topics, and the end point will be an unusable web. The web will be garbage, and kept as garbage because any clean up would open up new opportunities, to be filled with garbage by bot first movers.

I worry that the acute pain and abject misery we’re going through with AI is necessary for the “my robot makes my beds and toast” future we want.

Why is it a PDF? Why is it a PDF? Why is it a PDF? Why is it a PDF? Why is it a PDF? Why?

You should see Spica near the moon tonight. Spica is the brightest star in Virgo, and one of the 20 brightest stars we see. It’s not a star; it’s two! 🌟 🌟 A binary star system.
