Lessor known tune by Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) who was a blind Celtic harper, composer and singer in Ireland whose great fame is due to his gift for melodic composition. Although not a composer in the classical sense, Carolan is considered by some to be Ireland's national composer.” - Wikipedia

Better late than never, in honor of Scotland’s much respected, Robert Burns (25 Jan 1759 – 21 Jul 1796). He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. His poem (and song) "Auld Lang Syne" is often sung at Hogmanay (the last day of the year). - Wikipedia

Changing the head on my 1923 Irish Tenor Banjo made by the Bacon Banjo Manf. Co. known for quality instruments. Smithsonian has a 1933 model on display. Interesting history! #traditionalmusic #irish #banjo #irishmusic

The Star of Munster is a classic Irish reel, normally played in the key of A minor. On Kevin Burke’s 1978 album “If the Cap Fits”, he recorded a version in the lower key of G minor. In this key he was able to get a lot of extra open strings and drones, and a driving old timey American feel.

“The White Petticoat” is a beautiful jig in the key of Em. As a fiddler this tune is a true test to your bowing technique because it crosses 3 strings through most of it and it’s in a minor key. Not to mention bowing on three strings can easily trip you up. I hope you enjoy! ☘️

My take on this well known tune. I sincerely hope you enjoy! Full video and more at: YouTube.com/wedharris
