If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

But who is going to physically stop them?

Worse than theft and fraud, what US bank accounts are safe, if this action is possible?

South Africa responds to America's bullying interobservers.com/south-africa...

It's like a joke headline. Let's be as corrupt as we need to, as long as business thrives Trump loosens enforcement of US law banning bribery of foreign officials - www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

So after promising to focus on safety, they’ve gotten right down to work… on gender terminology?

Hi Bluesky! Glad to be here.

This tweet is setting up the Trump administration to thrust the U.S. into a constitutional crisis and obliterate our system of checks and balances as we know it.

Man! They REALLY don't want eyes on whatever is coming! www.bbc.com/news/article...

What they're doing at USAID is the equivalent of opening your car's hood and yoinking out wires and parts because you don't see what their function is, thinking your car will go faster because it's lighter, only to discover that you've rendered the entire car useless

Other countries can lay it out very clearly

Why do Republicans hate the free market so much? This government threatening of private companies is just one more example of the GOP abandoning its former principles to bow down to Dear Leader. www.cbsnews.com/news/costco-...

Thinning out the intelligence ranks is another move towards destabilizing American security. It serves to reduce the number of individuals who could potentially alert the world to what the new US Government is really doing

So fucked up!

The implications here should make everyone pause. Why is the US government contracting with foreign countries for prison space? What are we preparing for? A sudden significant uptick in incarcerated people? Or the need to imprison people "off the books"? Political adversaries, for instance?

The barrage is intentional, and it's exhausting even trying to keep up. It's seems the media has collectively decided to focus on Tariffs and USAID, and is missing the ball on the threats to Panama and Greenland, let alone the wholesale erasure of civil servants who know how the government works.

I am disturbed by the number of people I've talked to who are unaware of what is happening. When I start to enumerate the list, I watch them get this look on their faces as though I'm over estimating the seriousness of it all. It's going to be all over before America realizes what is happening

Let me emphasize: Elon Musk has not been confirmed by Congress. His “department” was never actually enacted. No one other than Trump has given him any authority. Democrats and any Republicans with a spine need to step in and stop this madness. Call your rep now (202) 224-3121

Elon Musk is not a Federal employee or a political appointee. DOGE is not a real department. None of their activities are legal. This is a coup. The Republicans in Congress are willing participants in it. At what point do Democrats in DC get that and start acting like it? It’s not the price of eggs!

Has anyone heard anything about what is happening to the assets of people being deported?

This is a coup d'état.

This is absolutely horrifying. Their hostile takeover of the United States government marches forward. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/u...

Stop what you’re doing and read this.

I used to be alarmed seeing mounted Park Police in DC but now I find myself hoping we're being invaded by Canada.

Note that all the "Saturday Night Massacres" happening at institutions and agencies are being carried out by "acting" directors. No confirmations. Also, Elon is dismantling OPM and Treasury. With Treasury in their power they have the means to fund their plans. No "appropriations" required.

The idea that any government agency can run so sorely understaffed is ludicrous. And, to clarify, OPM is basically the HR for the entire government. Which means every government entity will be affected

Sweet jaysus! If this is actually true...

The average American is going to start to find out how very little is produced in the USA and how very much American Made relies on imported goods/parts

This story is bananas. "A team including current and former employees of Musk assumed command of OPM on Jan. 20 ... They have moved sofa beds onto the fifth floor of the agency's headquarters, which contains the director's office and can only be accessed with a security badge or a security escort."

I'm interested in exploring what the term allies means

Musk's allies infiltrating multiple government departments should be a much larger conversation than it is. Didn't we all watch him crash Twitter in real time? Now he's implementing the same tactics on the US government

Even though I've known all of these facts before, watching this clip made my stomach drop as the implications of Gabbards' nomination is reiterated. I do not feel safe

Well said, Pete Buttigieg
