sincerely wondering: do they show this shit on the national news?

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

Hey, did you know there's an alternative to ChatGPT that makes sense economically and doesn't destroy the environment? It's called English majors and they will happily fix all of your documents for the low price of health insurance and a living wage.

Feels like this has never been truer in my lifetime than now

i do not think the mainstream press is equipped or capable of covering ideological white nationalists and eugenicists as such, or even capable of noting that this is what they are. it is related to the wide belief that racism is simply a matter of manners.

On today’s episode of “He’s Tearing This S**t Up”—Trump plans to dismantle NOAA, shutting down climate research and weather labs. In Texas, that means fewer hurricane warnings, less drought data, & more risk to our communities. This isn’t just a budget cut—it’s a threat to our safety.

Curtailing people’s ability to read widely and carefully, to locate, assess, and compare different sources for themselves, and to write in their own voice about what they find and what it means, is arguably more effective than censorship. It is also one of the most obvious effects of generative AI.

@america.government hey check this out

Tragic and Trump-inflicted. 💔 @wsj.com www.wsj.com/personal-fin...

Good morning. A reminder that historically when the US has wanted to punish other countries, it imposed sanctions on them, cutting their people off from global trade, hoping to create enough economic havoc that they rein in their leaders. Trump has imposed economic sanctions on the American people.

Ok what’s going on here? Yields are going up which means bond prices are going down. Fewer buyers of the world’s safest asset. Normally when the economy slows, there’s a flight to safety, not away from it. Means the world may be abandoning America. We are flirting with a true crisis.

Do you remember when I told you that your institutional repository was on a list for a future purge? And to save copies of everything in multiple places? It's time you prioritized that. Now.

My latest update is a little less uplifting than usual, but it’s not all bad! If there is ANY help you can give, we will gratefully accept it, even if the only thing you can do is share the link. Thank you all. You mean the world to us, and we will be eternally grateful. ❤️ gofund.me/4afef757

I saw somewhere that attorneys aren’t even able to locate their clients? How the hell are they supposed to file habeas petitions in the proper venue when they don’t know where their clients are detained?

Brilliant economic analysis by Marcus Hutchins @malwaretech.com

Theres always a listed 'reason' why each case happens, but they lie. The real reason is that they have a quota, and they will make up any reason if they're not meeting it that day. Don't visit the USA.

turns out the United States was an incredible moneymaking engine that ran on wokeness

Once again, in a functioning democracy -- and more to the point, with a media working as it should! -- this would be a huge, epic, what-the-fuck scandal.

This week, a growing number of people seem to be grasping that we cannot go back—only forward. That's hard, and I'm proud of folks for getting there. Here's the good news: instead of trying to save a broken system, we can think about building something new. It won't be easy, but it's possible.

I have tariffed the penguins that are on Heard Island and which you were probably assuming did not export goods forgive me they were taking advantage of us so cunning and so cold

I find myself thinking about historian Robert Paxton’s 2004 definition of fascism far too often than I’d like these days.

If law firms won't fight for themselves, why should any client believe that the firm will fight for them? newrepublic.com/post/193505/...

Disobey in advance.

First, heaven be the record to my speech
