Variegated Albo monstera planter before firing, after firing and after firing with monstera plant.

#ceramicartists anyone interested in coming to Portugal (an hour north of Lisbon) for a soda fire kiln building workshop this summer? Self guided residencies and Portuguese tile painting workshops also on the roster. (Photo of the guest house)

Some inspiration for future carved pottery from my walk around Torres Vedras, Portugal today.

Excited to glaze this new planter design and hang all the crystals! Thinking gloss white with mother of pearl… or some underglaze color accents on the leaves and flowers. How would you glaze it?

Experimenting with double walled forms and the carving possibilities. First lesson learned: use more clay! But having fun doodling with clay to work out the ideas.

A new family of leafy planters fresh outta the kiln. A little before pic of the Alocasia for good measure.

Are there any artists selling online in the EU (I am not based in Portugal so bonus points if you are in Portugal too) that would consider chatting with me about logistics?

Studio work can be so meditative. Bringing an image in my head into reality through simple motions and connections with clay is so satisfying. I have made hundreds of Monstera planters. Each one is unique. Each one teaches me something, and I absolutely love the process of bringing them to life.

Today in the studio, working on glazing this big leafy planter. I used an indigo interactive pigment to add some depth before applying the glaze.

Art deco inspired orchid pots are perfect for experimenting with texture and how glazes interact with it. That last one is one of my favorites. I love a glaze that moves! How about you?

New hanging planter design, with space for hanging crystals. Some chandelier inspiration happening here.

This week in adventures in moving to a foreign country- leaking kitchen sink leads to smashed concrete walls and discovery of bathroom plumbing mishap. (And a plumber telling me to put the new pipe on the outside of my house 🤦🏻‍♀️) This will be the art residency studio… some day.

This giant variegated Alocasia planter was my most favorite creation of 2024. And I totally (accidentally) smashed it into many pieces. Thankfully I got these photos first. Anyone else do dumb things like this? 🫠

Last year I did 11 collaborations with other artists as part of my community studio project. The goal was to raise both awareness and money for the project. I also learned a ton, and saw some of my forms in a whole new way. Here’s a recap/photos from 2024 www.welltraveledwares.com/artblog/2024...

Mars Crystal glaze from AMACO on these Plant Shelfie bookends turned out so good! Any other #potters playing around with this glaze? Would love to see how others are using the Cosmos glazes.
